Rebuild Of My Graham Goode Racing 3DR
#122
I looked into the pro and cons of having it dipped and decided i would do it, its a lot better and safer now with the anti corrosion process. Graham Goode had his RS500 done along with Paul with the DJR RS500, my car was dipped 8 months ago and put in primer straight away, its still on the spit now with no signs of rotting.
I was told of some people there cars started to rot after 2 months,
Thanks for the nice comments about the car, i will continue to update every couple of days.
The header tank you have mate is different to mine but thanks very much for the offer.

Hi, i had the car sprayed.
I would like to thank Paul S who kindly got in touch with me and let me know where there was some 18" BBS barrells
The guy i bought them from said these were from the rear of Steve Soper BMW M3 Touring Car, he sold the front set 17" just before christmas with the centres. So now i have 4 and some spares, just a matter of getting some centres to complete the set.

Well you wouldn't believe it, Graham had 2 of the rear beams made as he was planning on running 2 cars in the btcc but due to lack of funding he only ran the 1, now both beams were sold 22 years ago when the car was broke for parts and 1 of the beams currently sits in the Reyland Escort,
Having tried my best to buy it on many occasions with no avail i decided to have my own Tarmac spec beam made and i was planning on using that. After speaking to Graham he could recall that the original beam was sold to a guy in Peterborough so i called everybody i know it that area to try and find out who it was but yet again to no avail.
Well yesterday i came across it i couldn't believe it when i seen the pictures 8)

I fitted the rear beam today just to see what it looked like on, now its fitted you can see the reason why things have been modified on the shell. After 22 years they have been reunited lol. Also put a centre lock on the arm 8)

Always makes me wonder who has these sort of parts kicking around, especially when it's local!

Love reading about this re-build Mark. I can't believe how you've managed to get hold of so much of the original running gear!
I want to ask you about set up. The pic Graham sent you shows the fr top mounts right back in the turrets. So I'm guessing it ran a fair bit of castor. From the set up paperwork you have what was a typical camber and castor and toe set up? I'd love to know as I think it would help me improve the steering feel on my car which I'm struggling with at the moment. I think more castor will help me..
Cheers
