Dazrsturbo Series 2 Resto Take 2! Update 19/3/21
Some of you may remember my last series 2 resto on here. Well i was gutted that I had to part ways with my last one due to moving abroad, that didn't work out so back to the uk it was and now were settled into a new house it was time for another RS!!
I stumbled across this car on a series 2 rs turbo facebook page. It was local to me, completely standard and only 1 keeper on the v5. I snapped it up for a nice price and trailered it home this morning. so here it is... the next project!!

looks like you'll have your hands full once you get your garage sorted!, yeah not far from you at all seems as though s2's are more available in Norfolk as that's where I bought mine from around 2 years ago now, been collecting panels and parts to restore it since, once I locate a genuine headlamp/slam panel I can make a start on it now. Did love your red one and sure this one will turn out just as nice once finished.

Been doing a few bits to the car over the xmas period. im still not 100% moved into the garage yet so havnt been able to tear into it as id liked to. I have started to strip
the engine bay ready for the removal of the engine as this is now a full blown bare shell resto! Found that the battery tray has been replaced before so this is going to need some attention. apart from that things are slow but hopefully will be in full swing soon!

Been working on removing the loom from the car recently and finally got round to getting it out tonight. I wanted to remove it all on this build as i didnt on my last and it was a pain to work around, a few diy jobs have been made on it at somepoint due to someone being lazy with repairs so while its out it will be a good chance to repair all of these and give it a fresh retape. few pics of how the car is now...

So iv got all my garage space now so its full speed ahead for the escort, I got round to de glazing it in the week and the apatures arnt in a bad way so that was a relief, the only rust spots being around the tailgate.
I also removed the dreaded sunroof and lo and behold the tray is rusty! ;( Im going to get the crappy drivers side wing off this week and also remove the headlining.

Had abit of time on the car over the weekend, got the exhaust system off and the underside is no way as bad as my last project so thats good! The exhaust is a little worse for wear at the backbox end. it must have been blowing there and at the front section as it was super loose at the joint. also got the turbo and manifold off to ready for the engine to come out. Fuel tank is next on the list to get removed.

Slowly getting the car stripped now. Engine and box are now out. brake system will be comming out next, im gunna keep the wheels ect on for now so i can replace wings ect with the car still in its usual stance instead of being up on stands.

I got round to removing the o/s wing in the week and unearthed a problem, the car has had a small knock on the front corner, resuting in needing a new inner wing. after some poking around i decided to remove the front panel due to it have been fitted badly and having rot behind it. After removing the front panel its now turned out it needs a n/s inner wing too. So it begins!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Are you reusing the wings? Am asking because I think mine could do with inner wings but my outer wings are ok and original ford as well. Am wounding if it will be ok to try and reuse them if i take the off.

Nice work daz good to see you're still at it. I sold my saff a couple of year ago now and had a few different rs's since and thought I'd settled down with my 2nd focus rs. That's making way in a couple weeks time in a swap deal with my mate for 2 rs turbos lol I'm keeping the series one and getting some good power out of it as it been converted to efi the series two is low owner car and completely standard never been modified and even has the original engine still. I told the mrs I'll sell the series two but might hide it up and just tell her I sold it I'll get a thread started once I've got them home
