Default my new 3dr cosworth rep project.

hello all. just bought this 3dr cosworth replica??? as no time to complete mine so needed one running and useable. bit unusual but 90% cosworth, bodykit, bumpers, bonnet, (although the vents are looking too high), interior, or at least the majority of it. all parts not genuine i already have so easy replacement. car is running a 2.8i turbo technics conversion currently with minor (hopefully) issues, but i'm sure it can be sorted. would like peoples opinions on the colour, good or bad, as i am undecided.

will take some more pics as parts such as rear lights, front indicaters, door cards, parcel shelf, dash etc are updated to original spec. oh and that "bad boy" grill realy has to go.

the car does have some very good features but as all they can be improved on.

thanks for all the comments. grill will be changed when i have resprayed a standard grill. will try original lights / indicaters but think the orange would look good against the blue. interior is pretty good but needs a mk1 dash, rs ecu cover, parcel shelf, and a few other small bits and pieces. i've got everything hee already so will take a few pics before and after.

I quite like the grill but I like the 90's style, I would keep it even if you get a new one, it's part of the cars history, bit like rear window grills on 80's fords, looked shit in the 90's but are retro cool now

few interior additions. any opinions on whether i should use red bumper inserts or not. clear or ambers at front and originals on rear. the smoked lights on rear have been siliconed on so will take a bit of getting off. couldn't find colour match for standard grill and bonnet so off to coachworks to get done.

The Red inserts look terrible, Black would look a lot better.

Was it a 4i shell or a standard base 3dr shell ?

checked engine over yesterday and test drove for first time. goes well, very lively. i have twin turbo set up to go on but don't think i'll use it as this seems quick enough. i will be keeping it as may decide to give it more power in the future. when bought i was told bottom hose presurising but no sign of this yesterday. the suspension is not good enough as i already thought. drivers side arch catching tyre slightly. surely this shouldn't be happening with standard alloys fitted. will change as a precaution the head gasket, radiator and water pump.

thanks. the red has been removed as only tape to see if i liked it. they will be going black. grill is being sprayed and should be on by next weekend. rear lights will be standard as well as ambers on front and side. fuel cap will only be sprayed same as car so it doesn't stand out as much. don't want to respray yet as no time. i will either remove the lower spoiler or add the tip to spoiler as doesn't look right atm. bonnet is not right so will respray one i have so vents sit correctly.

managed to get mechanic over today. engine thoroughly pressure checked etc and can't find anything wrong. boost turned up a little and took it on a good road test and temp stayed around 80 / 90 degrees so seems ok. obviously no sped limits were broken in this process. now i know it's ok i'll start changing some bits and pieces on it.

agree with all but there is no way i would wrap a car. black will not be the colour if it goes to one of standard 3 colours. either white or moonstone.

It looks quite nice, good buy. Undecided on the 'bad boy' grille. Quite like the red inserts with the blue, I would lose the pikey plate though and get an age related one but that is just my opinion.

haven't updated in a while so here goes. well the head gasket on off side has given up. seems like stretch bolts used so pressure of turbo found this problem. all parts are now bought and will be sorted after the new year. front indicaters and rear lights back as standard. bought a set of yellow fogs for front as thought they would look good with the blue. new tailgate decal bought as other not fitted straight. new ford logo added already. inserts will go black and front splitter damage to be sorted and resprayed. it'll get there slowly as time allows but booked to go on 4 day classic car run to ireland in april so better get it done.
bought another car aswell, supra mk11 so time once again split. probably shouldn't have done it but there we go.
