1982 granada project...all finished ?
i posted a bit about this ages ago but so as not to go on about it all over again heres what ive now got. was originally a 2.3 gl,now badged as an rs170ci. its got a capri inj engine with a single t104(apparently) turbo and rover sd1 su car bolted onto it. theres a few bits here and there off other cars and also has an ultragate 38 watsegate seeing as the janspeed one was seized solid.time lost is 3 years but got there in the end....
result on the dyno was 152bhp and 176 torques.
not too bad for a 30 year old lazy v6

What a coincidence!
Your friend with the black granny visited my place of work last week and I spotted his motor in the car park so I started chatting to him. He mentioned he had been on a rolling road with a few other MK2 owners and that his car had been set up nice and proper!!
Lovely cool cars you have there!!

Thats the one. he probably told you how much extra torque he left with but the suprise was that it was only 1 bhp behind a 2.9 efi powered one!! he left ht racing with a very big smile
heres a vid of all the cars and the dyno printouts
we started a granada club ages ago and we dont do standard.......theres a few missing from the dyno day including a 3litre 24v cosworth, another 2.9 waiting for a twin turbo conversion and a few others too.
heres the four cars that were there

Thanks for the vid limey!
Your mate was telling me that you can pick up a MK2 for around Ł800.00. I have always wanted to have an older Ford but as I was telling your mate, unfortunately although im a total petrol head and have been car mad since i was a little un, i have no knowledge with regards to car maintenance, which im sure a older car would need!

thats why a few of us set up the FGCUK, its a ford granada site that likes all old fords just as much. i rebuilt my car from a rusty shell, its just common sense and what you dont know just ask the guys on the site, they guided me through the whole build.
if you look at the other playlists on the youtube link above theres the entire rebuild of my car from parking it up to the present. mine was rotten but not beyond repair by a novice.
the club site is at www.fordgranadaclubuk.freefo.de
do it, get one and have some rwd action. stripped out slammed racer or whatever floats your boat theyre all good. none of us drive around like miss daisy is in the back seat. theres showgrounds full of old people in flat caps sat next to standard ones but theyre so easy to work on its almost rude not to play a bit .

thanks, my motor gets mixed views and comments but itd be boring if eveyone liked the same stuff, ive never had it called epic before though.
i was told to lose the rs badge off the rear recently but for the one neg comment about it since 2010 i dont think ill bother.dont believe in changing my stuff for others benefit
gonna spend this winter going through the whole car tidying and repairing the parts that either dont work or dont work as they should followed by a complete end to end undersealing.
i saw the gold one for sale, gotta agree with everyone else it looks spot on.
love the wheels on the gold un too.think the ad said youd cut the springs down.the old girl sits real nice for it too,all mk2s should be that low as a minimum requiremnt!

cant afford to run the car this year .....like last year
so instead ive been undersealing the old girl and redoing all the bits I wasn't happy with.the rocker covers and hard pipe have been powdercoated body colour, the turbo now has a space jacket, the power sapping viscous fan is on the shelf and we now have a kenlowe. theres relays for the ness bits too and a janspeed boost gauge. we also have 4 point harnesses and a few other bits too. the bp logos on the wings are gone and theres now janspeed decals ,the underside is half undersealed and yesterday I decided to the coil wanted colour coding. the "shroom" filter has now gone and theres a twin cone on the opp side to the turbo now.theres a new header lid and hopefully the hard to source all rubber rocker cover gaskets I dropped in will stop my ongoing oil leaks..........................

Your very right, absolutely tons of work for the meagre 152 horses....... but it is unique tho.
The 2.8 carb grannies only really make around the 120 bhp mark at the wheels and a friend's 2.9efi
mill only managed 119?. I'm currently sat at 150-160 at the wheels so with a squirt
of go faster gas to get up to a safe 200 at the tyres ,it should be ample.
I bloody love the engine bay to be honest but its taking so long. still got the boot to get sorted, need to sort some wiring and grabbed another tin of underseal to finish the underside with, but hope to
be back at HT Racing for 2017 with everything ready for setting up.
never really gave any thought to underside damage when lowering the car.....4.5" ground clearance and this is the only damage??......not an issue at all
this is it , before the engine bay reworking, its a bit loud for me but my son loves it. grilles been swapped out for a poverty spec one, rear lamps now a kill switch, front spots are gone and theres a colour coded pair of hella twin tones on one side,bp decals swapped out for janspeed ones and obviously the engine bays a tad different now too.

10K+ Poster!!
Why does it have two air filters when one can easily flow enough for 500bhp or did you have restriction issues?

To be honest the original mushroom filter whistled so much when I touched the loud pedal it became annoying.I've got a vid on YouTube......ill post a link and you'll see what I mean
I had a selection of filters to hand including a mammoth cossie style one. The twin
had been laying around in a box with a flexi fan for ages so I offerred it up.
I'm hoping that the empty space inside the crossover pipe and the area inside the twin
filter arrangement will make it a little quieter........that's the plan. Hoping to get some more fresh air into the filter are too .the turbo set up isn't really tunable so I'm grabbing at anything I can .feel free to tell me if i'm making a mistake tho

During the years its on the road its used most days from May till October.its a bit crap
on mpg to be honest so I don't use it every year. It was used as a daily until the heater and core plugs gave up. Then it was a monthly car meets ride as a second car but the uk weather was killing it.
This year its sitting still and will be finished off finally.every year I run it I find bits that need to be done better.
Next year it should be back as a regular ride, but if I'm honest I'm scared to leave it out anywhere.
too many thieving scum out there. The worse bit is they'd ruin the car for kicks and I'd lose
23 years of work and in excess of 12k.......cars not worth that though, just what I can account for while.owned.by me

cars back on the ground now. undersealing is done except in the rear arches and the tops of the rear arms and just above the prop. i'll find a local garage that lets you hire the ramps and do the hard to reach bits there. the rear arms tops and rear wheel arches will be done when I take the back wheels off to free off the handbrake.
was very happy to see her back on the floor so treated her to a shift light for the steering column shroud. will check dyno printout and set it from that.i'll fit it when the shrouds off as I need to t-into the 12v switched ignition for the relays under the bonnet.
engine bay looks finished although I will need to double check the wiring on the fan as im not convinced its right......
extra spring added to the throttle return too as the one fitted (off a mini) just needed a little more tug

been back on the car.....dizzy cap looked wrong so that was oiked off and "greened up".
well my new go faster bits arrived....................along with a Ł60 import bill annoyingly....
I do need the two rear inner quarter boot carpet sections now as mine were binned
during the 2008-2010 strip down and refit so got to see if any of my old contacts for spares still have parts.
heres the much bigger than expected bottle being placed around the boot area. i'll run the gas line through the arm rest and through the car to keep it as straight as possible.the four point harnesses mean there's no sitting in the rear so not a problem
I also managed to get me some heat mouldable boot carpet from enfield pageant last week so i'll be raising the boot floor and having an under floor tool stash.......because it does break down and things do go wrong with it......

update....
had a blast on the old girl yesterday afternoon. started going through the ny-trex kit and all seems to be there.
boot was a state so that was on the to do list as well. two hours of laying inside the boot and i'm now here. had to remake the boot liner sides , floor and seat back cover but im not disappointed with the result
