Default Fiesta Mk6 - 2.0 Duratec

Thought I'd start a thread as I'm getting the car back on the road after nearly 4 years. Some may remember me from a few years back.

Anyway, no long intro.

Started life as a bog standard 1.3 Finesse that I passed my licence in back in 2004. Got some wheels and thought it was amazing, what a slippery slop that was...

Eventually fitted a 2.0 Duratec with Jenveys, Dash2 & Omex 600

This is where I got up to before I took if off the road. Stripped the interior of all comforts. Shame really as all the weight I saved I've now added to my gut!

Just getting back in the mood, lost the love for a while.

So many things left to do as with any ongoing project.

Cheers,

Planning on cleaning up the interior, removing unnecessary wiring. Followed by a nice cage. The engine internals are standard so potential there.

Nowhere near the level of yours! Just a humble N/A sleeper lol

Has caught a few out. More so before I painted the bonnet black. Which wasn't the plan but it was a really cold day when I fitted the aero catches and ended up having to respray it after slipping with the file a few times.. The plan is to respray it back to standard at some point.

Haha people have always wanted my wheels almost sold them a few times but just couldn't do it. I think they go quite nicely. I'll try and find an old pic when I had cossie wheels, thought that looked ok.

Cheers guys!

Got plenty to do before hand. Ordered a new rear bumper, as my is a bit melted, and some braided cable wrap last night. Then I still need some perspex panels for the interior.

I'll have some photo updates soon, I hope.

Same as before Tim.

2.0 duratec HE
Jenvey throttle bodies
Omex 600
Race Technology dash 2
ST170 300mm front brakes
Focus 2.0 252mm rear brakes
GAZ adjustable coilovers with upgraded 350lb front springs
16x7 speedline turinis

Also, it turns out the battery I had before was for a 1.3/1.25 not the 2.0 which is almost double the power rating. Fitted the bigger one last night so I'm ready to hit the road.

I have a standard ST exhaust that needs fitting as the Cat in mine was destroyed. That'll do for the time being while I look for a nice Miltek.

This week I have:

Designed & lazercut some 3/4 pannels. Black acrylic under the protective film. Also made another go at removing some of the shite from floor.

Name: IMG-20140715-WA0000.jpg
Views: 389
Size: 52.2 KB

Got a standard ST exhaust fitted, with cat fully intact!

Name: IMG-20140714-WA0002.jpg
Views: 385
Size: 43.8 KB

Moved some wires about inside & thought about making a better dash. This one was knocked up in a day before RS Combe a few years ago.

Name: 20140713_192417.jpg
Views: 396
Size: 55.1 KB

Things to do before FF:

Get new rear bumper painted.
Paint the interior.
Get bonnet wrapped.
Wire fuel sender to the Dash (anyone know which wire I'd be looking for?).
Wire wheel speed sensor.
Make a surround to hide the mess of the steering column.

Then I'm done...

Time for a change of direction with the interior, I think for the better. Put the dash back after doing some chopping. Still need to remove it again to neaten it up/make switch panel. Eventually I'll get it flocked but not til I'm sure what to do with the vent holes.

Feels less like a go-cart but more discrete.

Got tempted at Ford Fair and got a Miltek Evo2 manifold as the first part of the exhaust system that will slowly go from standard to a full Miltek. Still need to make some kind of heat shield for it.

Going in for a remap as soon as, can't wait to finish off the exhaust and move onto cams. Should start getting fun then lol.

Manifold:

Decided that I'm going fit an airbox for the ITB's soon which required some removal of the plastic panel. More may need to come off but at least for now the air flow is better.

Its a Magnum Motorsport seat but I think they went out of business. Massive shame as I like mine and want another.

Many months have passed, here's what I've been up to...

After getting the Miltek 4-1 @ Ford Fair last year, I had another package delivered by the friendly UPS man.

Name: IMG_1227.jpg
Views: 381
Size: 132.3 KB

In the box was the rest of the exhaust, so after 6/7 years I've finally finished the exhaust system!

I then decided to upgrade the battery and move it to the boot. I went for an Odyssey PC950 after speaking to the good chaps at MDS Battery, also got a Ctek maintenance charger to deal with the battery going dead after prolonged time in storage, needs to be plugged in all the time but thats fine for me.

Moving it to the boot meant I needed to buy a mount but I couldn’t find one I liked so I made my own

Here it is in its new home.

Name: IMG_1470.jpg
Views: 377
Size: 222.9 KB

The car recently got treated to a mapping session at Track 'n' Road, it made 180bhp and 151 ftlb. Not a great deal in the grand scheme of things but it drives really well. Was a happy day.

On the outside, the bonnet is still black as there is always somewhere else to spend the money...

Next on the list are some new tyres, probably a set of Federal RS-R’s. Then it’s time to become acquainted with Brands Hatch

Thanks for reading,

Bav

Looks good nav, couldn't you just fit a battery cut off switch then you won't have to keep charging the battery

Cheers

I've got one I need to fit but the main issue is something to do with the alternator. Instead of spending ages trying to sort it out, Ł40 for a charger thingy gives me the piece of mind that the battery is fully charged and ready to go. I'll try and fix it in the winter, probably. Added to the to-do list anyway...
