Had a good day on the car yesterday, my mate came round and gave me a hand wet flatting the rest of the car.
Then we got her dried off and masked up ready for some primer.
After 4 thick coats of high build
Guide coated ready for the next stage
Going to hit the car properly next week, im hoping to paint it next weekend.

It's been a very very long week, but I've just got back from work after painting the shell. Will upload pics in a bit, there's lots of them!

Started off flatting all the shuts down, got those areas masked up and painted
Then got the doors in primer and got them fitted up
Painted the underside of the bonnet and bootlid
We then set about hours and hours of wet flatting the shell, got some mates round to help me dry it out and get it masked
That was end of play last night, it was too late and too cold to paint the car.

Got in this morning, I ran a tack cloth over the shell, degreased it and the went over it again with the tack cloth. It was a nervous time for me because although I've painted loads of cars before and done loads of paint work, I've never actually done a full metallic repaint. So it was my first one.
Anyway, pics after the base coat
Being a pearl colour it didn't cover that well, but managed to get good coverage in the end
And the pics after 3 coats of lacquer
So that's it done, took me best part of 5 hours to paint, with the drying off times.
It's been a long old resto on this car and many many hours of work, but it's nice to finally see her in paint. Can't wait to start fitting it all back up!

Cheers for the comments fellas, I'm halfway through flatting and polishing the car now, just starting to fit bits back up now. Sifting through my stock to find all the best bits to go back on! Lol
Here's what I've done today, got the headlights fitted and test fitted the grille and headlight strip.
Also got the two drivers doors fitted up with the windows etc in, just need to dig around the workshop and find some 89 spec door looms that haven't been cut about

Nice work!
Was one rotten saph really so fair play in fixing it all properly. There will be one extra nice 2wd still on the road and lets be honest they are getting thin on the ground now.
Just think of the 100's of them that have been broken and scrapped that weren't even half as bad as this!?

Been slowly plodding away on this, doors are fitted up now with all the windows working. Got the bumpers fitted up and adjusted ready to prep them for paint. Brakes are now done and bled up. And ther interior is starting to go back in.
Had to have a big move around yesterday and get the car to the front of the workshop as its having a new screen fitted tomorrow. So took some pics when she was outside
I'm flat out next week on other work so hoping to get my mate to fit the rest of the interior and the dash up for me

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Wheels look really nice, makes me want to do mine white! Not sure they'd go so well with nouveau red though?!
When I was working at Maranello, the bloke that did our wheels did my old Racelines white, for the mrs RS Turbo, after I'd put MO's on the Saff. Think he did all 5 for 100 quid

She's not far off!!
Ordered stickers and caps for the wheels yesterday, along with a set of dmb dealer plates, and another brake caliper to replace the fucked one on the nearside front of the car. Il get the last of the paintwork done by weds, so she should look like a complete car by sat!

Got the front bumper, skirts, bonnet vents, mirror caps, headlight strip and grille in colour.
Got the vents, caps and grille etc fitted up, had a grille centre with a brand new badge in it so fitted that
Splitter got a few coats of hight build and a flat down then a few costs of satin black, looks much better than it did
Then it was time to fit the front bumper up, got the splitter on, then fitted Ł45 worth of plastic strip!!
Then onto my favourite job, which is fitting door mouldings, got them all stuck on and left them umder pressure from the masking tape for the time being
Loads of bits turned up yesterday, including my alloy side skirt clips, so this should be my first ever sierra with non saggy skirts....
