Well progress has been slow on the saph, haven't had time to get anything done on the car for over a month now. But heres the latest update.
Boot floor rot
Cut out
Welded up
Yet more rot cut out
Rear panel needed various repairs
Then i decided to take the number plate off and found this!
Cut the section out of a spare rear panel
All done
Got the majority of the roof welded up
Rear panel on the other side needed various repairs
Done
Weighed this blown up 740 as well
Which gave me these
How she sits now, with some friends lol
I have no idea when i will next get a bit more time on the car, i still plan on painting it over Christmas, but we will see.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
On the subject of reshelling, are there any differences between cossie shells and other sierra shells?
Id always fix what i had if i could to keep the originality of it looks like your doing a great job

As has been said 2wd are the same, i could have used the white shell sitting next to it in the last pic as its mint. But wanted to keep with the original shell.

What did you do with the roof mate? I was going to clean mine back where it has blisterd around the sun roof but didn't want to open up a can of worms, did you just plug the holes.

Smaller holes i plugged up with weld, anything slightly bigger i cut out and welded in new metal.

Well progress has been very slow on the saph, im all up and running now and have very little time. I have thought about giving up with this car and just breaking it but i do want to get it finished.
This is whats happened since the last update
Had my comps in my garage at some so put them on the saph
Next to my mates pinto turbo technics saph
Then she sat in the workshop and got used as a shelf for a bit
Time to drop the rear beam off, the rear chassis legs needed a good looking at so wanted to take the beam out to do it properly
The chassis leg is totally fucked
The leg is now cut out and the new one is cut into place, that was a few weeks ago and i just haven't had the time to weld it in yet.
im going to push to get the beam back in and the rear end welding done for the end of October, but we will see.

Cheers mate, i dont think anyone else would have bothered with her thats why i had to.
Im breaking a 2wd saph cossie and a 4wd saph cossie at the moment and they are nowhere near as bad as this rust wise.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Thought I knew it, just got the owners confused! From memory, he was mates with the lads at Chessington tires (or worked there) in Walton. Once nearly took a bus stop out when he spun it at Guildford cruise!? Lol
Was a nice car back then!

Sounds like the same car then, it looked pretty much the same when it was on the road as when i picked it up. Got a few photos of the car that were taken in walton about 12 years ago.

Well managed to get some good time on the saph.
Straightened the rear panel out and did some more repair work on the rear quarter.
Finished off the passenger side rear arch and inner and outer sill excuse the poor pic it was late
Chassis legs, spare wheel well and boot floor all done now. Painted in zinc primer and then seam sealed
Car masked up ready for a few litres of stone chip
Then decided to give it a few coats of 2k gloss black. I'm not into detailed undersides so was not going to be doing it body colour. Just want to make it easy to keep clean as this car will be used all year round.
That was done yesterday, hoping to have the car back on its wheels by next weekend all being well.
Need to phone my insurance company and see what the damage will be insuring 2 Cossies at the age of 23 lol

Made some good progress on the saph over the past couple of weeks.
The sunroof on the car was seized solid, handle was just spinning, so we undid the screws from the inside and ripped the glass from the frame. This is what was left in the tray
Got some new wheels
All four doors on the car were either rusty or dented, so took four doors out of stock along with a vented bonnet and got them all fitted up
Then I needed to get the car turned round the other way, so pushed her outside for the first time in months
Screen is also out now.
Bit of work to be done on the strut top
Now time for the underside
Got the fuel tank fitted, all the fuel lines in and wiring done, after a few mins pissing about with the immobiliser she fired into life
About 2 hours left and I can say goodbye to welding!
Planning to get her painted between Christmas and new year, so have a month to get all the prep done

Welding is now finished on the cossie, shes all up and running again.
Only just managed to get some time back on the car as ive been busy helping my mates out with two of their saphs.
Turbo technics car we have replaced the engine in
And my mates rusty 4x4 cossie ive been welding up
Right on to my car, first thing to do was get everything gutted from the inside of the car and get it hooved out and blown out with the airline.
Car now stripped down to a bare shell ready for filler work and prep
Roof needed a good skim to get it straight
Gave my brembos a lick of paint
Back to work tomorrow to finish off the body prep, should have the shell in primer by early next week

That's exactly what it takes to keep these cars on the road and after all its not too bad for a 26 year old motor, it looks good keep the updates coming.
