Exciting update time
When I bought the car I always intended on fitting an RS Turbo kit and RS option spoiler, but with the paint on the car not being that great a freshly paint kit would have looked stupid. Now Whit is my least favourite Escort colour so I did think about the frozen white route, but after seeing a frozen white S2 at the same body shop I used I was glad I went a different route. It just looks wrong.
After a lot of looking I seen a colour on a Skoda, soon as I seen it I was straight on the phone to see if I mate could get it, unfortunately My mates paint supplier couldnt get it so after look through a load of colour chips I got what is the closest colour I could get. Part of the colour change reason was I didnt want just another white S2 Turbo Cabby, I wanted it to stand out.
So on the 2nd of January the car was unloaded off the trailer at 09:00 and a 16hour stint seen the full colour change completed.
I honestly couldnt have picked a better colour, it suits the car perfect. Now Im a fuzzy one when it comes to the little details (see my RWD Cossie S2 ERST thread) so loads of effort went into the little things, door shuts, hinges, door straps, head light bezels and front panel, lower sills, etc, the parts that usually get over looked as oh thatll do sort of areas.
Anyway pics
Bumpers were striped back to bare plastic, then plastic primed, High build not needed
Striped down ready for the booth and base coat
.
Even the slam panel plates got painted of the car
And finished panels
Turbo kit
And car reassembled, took us from 9am to 1am the next day, so 16 hours in total. Had to get it all done in one session as we only hired the booth for the day
Couldn't resist offering an arch up when I got it home the next day
To say I love the colour is an understatement,
My mate wanted to give it a good polish before I reassemble it, had a stag weekend last week in Andorra so has been left for 2 weeks to chill out, hoping he'll be up tomorrow with a bit of luck.
Then a case of putting all back together, Vents and spoiler are going black as are the bumper stripes, so all black and grey
Hope people like it

Looks fantastic mate, great work
I think you bought the Hi Spec brakes from me? Met you at ford fair a few years ago when you had the magenta XR2 turbo?

Bit of an update on this, My RWD Cossie S2 is still at the body shop awaiting paint so this has had all my attention, Car was all back together for the end of March, flew the MOT which was nice.
Anyway before it went I was having serious issues bleeding the brakes, so after changing the servo and master and still being the same I went down the Mk5-6 Escort set up, Nice and easy to do, you do have to cut and join the mounting plates but wasn't hard. Also fitted a new roof skin which again, nice and easy even being the first one I've ever done.
And a few pics of it out on the road all back together and usable
Having a bit of a problem now with a gear box wine so that's new on the list

Really easy, but you do need a welder, You do need both pairs of mounting brackets. I've heard people saying they just fitted it with the Mk5/6 mounts, how I don't know. where the brake bar sits in the 25mm hole on the bracket, the Mk5/6 one is 10mm closer to the bulk head mounting face. I have got pics some where if you want me to upload them. I was lucky with my wiring, as mines an EFi the low fluid level plug is the newer type so plugged straight on.
And the engine is back out gear box out put shafts had loads of play, looks like the diff bearings where gone. Gonna stripe out and paint the bay whilst i'm at it

Well the gearbox started to make a nasty winning noise, and found that the output shafts had a lot of play in them, meaning that the diff bearings were probably knackered,
A pic to see the colour difference
So then this happened
And then this
]
Stone chipped some of the inner wings and cross member
Then gave it a quick blast over with some primer to get it all one colour before paint
]
Just before the paint went on I had a look at the paint I had left and wanted to keep at least ˝ a litre just in case, so my mate suggested doing the bottom half black,
So after masking it looked like this
Bit of rattle can satin black into all the holes to make sure they were covered then
And gloss black base coat
Unmasked
Then after the black set it was masked off
Then the grey top half was based and the whole lot lacquered
Started to build back up
Head lights painted
Skimmed fly wheel and new clutch
And all back together, Repainted the rad and intercooler, brake bar etc,
Looks so much better colour coded,
Thanks for looking

It wasn't an option at the time due to the short notice to paint it, but yer, wish I had.
I made a major cock us with the gearbox, didn't realise the driver side diff bearing was 5mm bigger until it started to make a horrible grinding noise in 5th, so box is back out.
Striped it apart to do a full bearing change and bollox the box casing by popping a hole in it trying to remove the main shaft bearing, so looks like I'm goin back to a BC box. Still need to figure out how to remove the main shaft bearing

Well after breaking the casing on the IB5 I striped a spare BC box I had, which I new was ok.
Once apart it was fully cleaned and boiling water pressure washed, all the bearings and seals removed and replaced then refitted. that is the first full box rebuild I've ever done and back in the car it's all good. it's the first time in a long time that I've had quite / silent box which is nice. Only done about 60 miles but so far so good.
