managed to get a full day on the car today, set about repairing the other inner arch and sill, found the bottom of the wing and part of the wing arch was rusted where the kit bolts on, it was also in the way of the repair to the inner arch and sill so in the end I decided to take the wing off, didn't bother trying to save it to re fit because of the rust on it and its a tit of a job to get off anyway so decided id just replace the wing with a new one, they're only 40 squid!

once the wing was off I had plenty of space to cut the shite out and start again! am happy with the results and got it primed as well, so now I can move on to the pillars where the windscreen fits
take a look-

Really nice job your doing mate I have the same thing on mine, roof is in bad shape and has rotted through the skin, but same as you don't want carbon or no sunroof so still thinking of best way to do it before putting too much work in on other parts of the shell, stick with it will be well worth keeping the sunroof when it's finished.

Also not sure if it'd work as haven't been able to get hold of 1 yet, but think the mk5/6 escorts have a bolt in sunroof tray that is similar dimensions so maybe able to cut the bolt in lip off and fabricate your original lip onto the new tray, just an idea???

I feel sick every time I read owt to do with the s2, about 20 year ago I had a brand new unused shell and sold it for I think £150.

Sooooo... after man flu weddings, general family commitments and a load of other crap to do apart from the rs, ive finally managed to get some time to finish off my windscreen repairs and plug up those horrid holes in the floor pans ford thought would be a grand idea to leave behind! by the time im finished with the shell it'll be submergible! got a bit more primer down to fend off any surface rust while I continue working! glad ive finally managed to get past the fuse box and lower window repairs, felt like they were never going to end
was good to finally get back to her this weekend

Sooo... been a bit off and on over the last couple weeks with other commitments
what have we accomplished..
Finally got the engine bay finished off in primer, finished the scuttle panel and got it primed, rubbed down both door jams and got them in primer (will rub the primer down again but don't want any surface rust appearing as I move through the car) got 99% of the inside of the shell wired back ready for sealing, cant do anymore to that until I get to the underside! found myself a minter of an rs roof (pictured) for my repair, well happy about that at the moment im making repairs to the two rear side windows, then its on to the rear arches.. getting there slowly! ill throw up some pictures now and more when I finish the windows etc. do let me know if its a picture overload at any point!

Spotted that too could be a pain after the last paint is applied the rubbers are an easy fit but they are 90deg corners at the end

Keep up the good work they are nice in white

sooo. couple more pics showing the side window repairs, started with cutting the rust out then templating and replacing the lips with good steel, good coating of jenolite and then finished off with a coat of tiger seal so that no water can get in between the two skins, then some primer to keep it sweet ill get a pic up of bottom windscreen repair mk2 tomorrow spent yesterday and this evening welding up the inside floors behind the rear seats, getting closer! just keep welding- just keep welding!
