I have owned plenty of escorts over the years and its nice having one that stops well.
The standard Brakes will pull you up at speed but you only get one go at it!

Its running an EMS 8860 ECU mounted on top of the glove box.

It is still a work in progress and I just took delivery of a YB cossie to fit next!

Thanks Jonny
My next big spend will be a decent gearbox. I am going to stick with the 4 speed for now just to get it back on the road. I am still undecided between a T5 or a Toyota supra box.

Here is a pic of the engine after I unwrapped it yesterday.

Just realized the first photo is quite an old shot before I fitted coil overs and dropped the rear. This is how it currently sits

It started off as a 1.6 but got ripped out pretty quick.

The pinto made 265 bhp@25psi and was heaps of fun but was far too laggy.

I am hoping to get around 300 - 320 bhp out of the YB but will be running a gt2871 to get the response i want.

very nice!!!

And that will be the perfect turbo for what you want next to no lag!

do you suffer from high charge temps due to weather conditions ie being in oz where its always warmer than the uk and having such a cramped engine bay?

Nice one.
Sure does look different from the back with the fuel tank under the boot floor rather than how
our euro spec ones had it in the boot.
Keep the updates coming.

The last track day I did was in December last year and was 40 degrees celcius in the shade. The lag was ridiculous. I am currently running a Davis Craig electric water pump and a rx4 alloy radiator which keeps the engine temps down.
Here is a photo of the engine showing the water pump.

The water pump controller is great for track days. It will run the pump and fans for 2 mins after shutdown and gets rid of a lot of heat soak.

you must be struggling for grip at the start as your terminal speed is a high 10 quarter mile or an easy low 11
