Stuck the kahns on the van too, as the focus st wheels were rubbing. And i think they look better anyway

And a while back someone randomly contacted me on the rsoc forum and GAVE me this nos 4x4 exhaust section
Not sure if still available or not, but bloody nice of him all the same.
I was going to remove the front sub before engine but having trouble getting to all the fixings. Also whats the best way to remove the front driveshafts? Rears slid straight out but the fronts are stuck fast. Suspension is all out of the way, do they need to be in a particular position?

Project is looking great mate and will be worth big money one day, wish I had the time and a garage to do mine, std exhausts are not available anymore and getting a pattern part one is also impossible to find so keep hold or if you're going to sell I'll have it!! Looking foward to seeing this finished

right bit of an update,
got the engine on to the stand today
clutch off
and opened up for inspection
your thoughts on the condition chaps?
engine bay stripped and then i got underneath her
petrol tank and filler neck off. needs a clean LOL
tank drained and on the table for a good inspection
pedal box out. is the clutch quadrant standard in green?
engine bay all out now
front sub frame and wishbones etc all out.
and thats how it stands for now. just the heater system inside, a good hoover up and the brake lines to get off now and shes ready for a jig. still hoping someone can lend me one before i have to shell out for a new one? Anyone?

Thread title now updated, havent had much of a chance to get much done due to work, spending this saturday doing some work to the van, as im taking it to aylesford priory on sunday with the rsoc kent lot. Come say hi if yiur there!
Brake lines are all off, just a million plastic clips to remove, going to be fun trying to remember where that lot go! Thinking of covering my garage floor with something to minimise dust and make it easier to clean up. Any suggestions?

Time for an update! Been a busy boy
Rusty is now home on the driveway
Next to the mk6 for inspiration!
Never seen a penny this rusty before!
Found under the carpet lol
Took the van to aylesford priory, she took pride of place on the RSOC stand, and we won best stand in show! (Probably not because of the van though!)
RSOC brands hatch monthly meet, a rare opportunity to get a photo of a mk5 and mk6 rs2000 in moondust silver together. Shame we lost the daylight
Back to work, the mk5a is now stripped to a bare shell, so i did what i should have done ages ago and painted the floor. Minimises cement dust in the air for when i eventually start painting. Nice and tidy
While the paint cured, i cracked on with rusty
And heres more pics of reasons why shes getting scrapped!
Bought myself a new toy

Good results i think. Will come in handy for all the dirty bits.
Went and bought a second hand jig today, got home to find the front mount has been altered so it needs some welding to make it fit right. Got the mig out and set up and burnt a few beads but ran out of time before i could go any further, will be back on it tomorrow though!

Cheers andy, shame the cabinets not quite big enough for an alloy wheel.

only a small update as ive been flat out at work and other stuff. decided im going to get some gas sorted out for my mig, gasless is far too messy to be restoring a motor with!!
in other news ive now stripped rusty completely to a bare shell and just need a day to cut it into bits and keep some sections to practice welding on (scuttle, around windows etc) and he will be off to the scrappy.
Oh, and the rs2000 van is now sold, bought this in its place!
was an old friends who recently died of cancer, i will be keeping it in his memory. his nickname was chucky, so i see it only right to call this the chuck truck!
no major plans for it just yet, its in pretty good shape so just needs a valet and a truckman top with a roof rack and i can use it to look at jobs etc
