1985 Mk3 Escort 1600 Ghia ... First Project!!
Hi all, first time posting and first time owning a Mk3 Escort!
Went to view her Friday evening, she looked great but refused to start!
Wasn't impressed but she looked too good to leave, so I went back on Saturday armed with tools, daylight and a new battery, and managed to get her running!
She drove great on the way home ... aside from awful brakes, flat spots and running rich ...
Not really decided what do do with her yet, so thought perhaps here was a good place to look for ideas!
The interior is fairly good, but the dash has cracked badly
Exterior is fairly good, couple of scratches and dents here and there, but nothing major.
Bad bits (so far)...
The weather strips on the windows are shot (having issues finding these) The rear lamp bulb holders are broken and held in with gaffa tape
The key wont open the boot lock
Going to have a tinker tomorrow, adjust valve clearances and see if i can get her running a little less rich!
Will take a few photos too!

Looks nice, I had one in the late 80's ... Hydraulic tappets so you can't adjust them. Running problems are usually down to a split VV Carb diaphragm. Be sure to replace the cambelt if you don't know when it was last changed.

Hi all, the plan is to leave her standard but bring her up to a showroom condition!
She's already had a carb upgrade as far as i can tell, running quite rich though so i need to sort that out!
She has a noisy valve lifter, planning to replace the set when i change the cambelt (was done 2k miles ago... apparently... but I'd rather be safe!)
Whats really annoying, work had a load of BNIB genuine spares, but chucked them all just before i started! was gutted when i found out!

I think the mudflaps are genuine, not really looked tbh! Its got a rubber spoiler on the boot, I'm waiting for some better weather to polish her up and take some more photos!
