My Escort cosworth resto
So I purchased this
The drive home was interesting, it was clear the car has issues which need addressing,
the interior came out today, the carpets were filthy and it was a little neglected inside.
All the trims came out, seats out, and carpets out,
The carpets were shampooed and dried and refitted.
All the plastics were cleaned and refitted,
The leather was cleaned and fed to make it nice and supple again,
The roof lining came out and I'm now about to retrim it in alcantara along with the pillar trims.
The centre console had been mutilated so I've not bothered putting it back in untill a new one is found,
All that is now back in is very clean and I have a list of things to get so it can be finished off ASAP.
It smells and looks a different car inside already!
Engine bay will be next on the list

Probably stay T34 on the 72s at the moment, I want to get the car right before I look for anymore power,
The previous owners have spent lots of money on the car but forgotten about the important basic things, like having working power steering and having an oil tight engine. Or wheels that point in the right direction,
Once it's right who knows

Im not puting it on the dyno at 7500 rpm with an oil contaminated cam belt and loads of running faults.
it needs work to make it right before any tuning takes place,im really not interested in how it performs yet, i want it to start and drive straight, and be reliable so when it is tuned it will work.
Thsi is what the majority of Ford owners get so wrong
When its right it will be on the dyno, but i have a great big list of things to do first. The way it drives it feels like peak power would be about 250bhp at 15000 rpm

The engine is mechanically very good it sounds very good, but it has lots of oil leaks to sort, the engine will be coming out for a full re gasket and inspection soon enough,
The drivetrain needs TLC, im going to replace every arm, bush and joint, the driveshafts are coming out for a full refurb with new joints etc etc, then tracking as its scuffing tyres badly it knocks and rattles from the under side, fuel tank will be comming out for a new pump and inspection,
Full service sensor kit, loom etc etc, at that point i will be more interested in how it performs, but at the moment i would hapilly trade 200bhp for nice driability. bit by bit i will build her to a std im happy with, my old T34 saff was and still is the most responsive YB ive driven and thats what i want this one to be like. but it has to be a nice place to be and most important;y it has to be reliable and trouble free.
Tuning it is on my list, but its a low prioroty and right at the bottom.
