Nice project and progress there chap!! I have just got a MK4 diesel myself as a temp van whilst my Vivaro is having a bit of work done (snapped cambelt!!).
I was going to drive it for a few weeks and sell it on, but instantly fell in love with her!!!! The plan now is back to a bare shell and RS Turbo her as I have got a spare engine in my shed from a fez rst that I sold 3 years ago (knew it would come in handy). I plant to do mine over 12 months or so...

got abit of work done on the van today finally,
and we will also be doing some more tomorrow so i will keep the updates coming for you
so here is the rear inner sill we had previously cut the rot out off,
and also where the leaf spring mounts to had rotted slightly so we also repaired this to.
here is the main piece welded up, at a later date welds will be grinded down, and it will all be tidied up so watch this space
and then the leaf spring mouting point
and here it is all welded up, and again it will eventually be grinded down and tidied up
and then i gave it all a quick spray in etch primer just to protect it from rust etc untill we do some more work on this area
and that was all today really, not to bad for a few hours of work.
hope you enjoy the update
PLEASE leave us some FEEDBACK good or bad aslong as its HONEST it will be much apprieciated
thanks max and merv

as usual got snowed under with work, but we did manage to get a tiny bit done today.
had an impulse idea today, and acted on it straight away lol
firstly we needed to give the garage a good clear out and sweep through
and once that was done we took everything out of the van and off of the roof
and also got it of the axle stands
so here are some pics
looks so good back down to normal height lol
the back end
next up we moved the van over and had a sweep through
can anyone guess whats coming up next
well lets see
if you guessed we put a couple of mattresses down and put the van on its side you were right hahaha
and thats all so far folks
hope you enjoyed
thanks

no mate went over really easy to be honest, easier than i thought,
saved me around Ł200 buyin a jig lol
and its a pain in the arse laying on a freezing floor under a van without much room trying to grind, weld, sand or clean etc
its sooooooo much easier now, wish i had done it a long time ago lol

i was abit worried about that,
but i know a few people have done it before without problems, so should be fine,
the matresses under it are also very thick and soft,
there like a foam.
also the side its on needs alot of panel work anyways so should be all fine
fingers crossed lol

not the best update in the world lol, but its getting there, once all the underneath is cleaned up ground down and etched ill be fibreglassing the welds etc to smooth them in and make it as if there are invisible patches of weld etc
we could however butt welded instead of patch welding, but because of shapes and angles etc it would have been a nightmare and taken an extremly long time. plus with but welds we would be worried about burning through
and belive patch welds would be stronger.
