Few updates!!

Now the better weather is here time to start cracking on. Over the winter I have noticed what I thought was a whine from the gearbox, mostly under load / cornering. Thought it was probably the diff. Did a bit of research and it was actually the power steering pump. There is a filter inside the reservoir that gets clogged, thus starving the pump of oil. Put a new reservoir on it then thought I'd cut the old one open and see what the inside looked like -

Anyway, this was my old sub box, a ported unit with a JL W3, sounded pretty good but quite tatty, just chucked it in the boot for a bit of boom over the winter.

It was alright but needed finishing properly. Anyway one evening on my way home from a rather shit day at work, I blew the sub to bits. Decided to sell it for Ł18, (amazing what people buy on ebay lol).

Upgraded it to a JL W6, with a XD1000/1 amp and an XD450 powering the front components. I cobbled this together over this weekend.

This was a mock up, after this was made, I took it all apart and glued / glued all the joints.

Really pleased with it, just running the sub in at low volume for a few weeks now, but sounds great!

Driving to work Wednesday morning and hit a cunting crater in the road. Blew 2 eagle F1's (one of which was 2 days old) and bent the wheels. Pissed off is not the word!

Had to call the RAC out who had a multifit spare that he put on the front and put the car's spare on the back. Got the car to a tyre garage and had a pair of tyres put on (Triangle is the make and they are SHITE lol) but the vibration through the car from the buckled wheels is something else. The car is going in on Monday for a full geometry check to see if anything is bent, then the wheels are off for a refurb, where hopefully they can be straightened, if not, god knows what I am going to do.

Bloody cars hey!

Keep your rac report and take pics of your wheels and tyres.

Take a ruler and take pics of the hole you hit with the ruler for scale and Google about claiming the cost back.

It's a shitter to happen but you can claim it back against the council.

I have kept all receipts / RAC report etc. I am going to stop for pictures of the hole in the morning on my way to work and when I know the final bill for all repairs I will send the council a nice invoice.

Anyway the car went in today to get checked out, luckily no suspension damage but knocked the tracking out quite a bit. Put the wheels on the balancer and they are banana shaped so I am not sure weather they can be repaired. Going to pop them in to a refurbishers and see what they think.

A set of wheels popped up on ebay so phoned the guy up this morning and went and got them, they are in good nick with 4 good tyres so didn't think the Ł100 I paid was too bad.

This is how I am rolling now, drives bloody nice on little wheels actually

Get receipts for the garage bill etc. as well. If you know them get recites for time spent inspecting it.

Every penny you spent claim the fucker back!

I remember hitting a crater on a roundabout on the M58 joining the M6. Bent the right
Two alloys, thankfully no punctures but cut the tyres enough to scrap them.

At the time I didn't know you could claim against the council or I would of. (Would of been highways agency for me)
Luckily I was trading it in not long after. The new owner rang me a fortnight after asking about history etc. (I had 2 folders of every receipt I got, even down to number plate lenses, and told him about the alloys and tyres, He took it back to the dealer and got a new set haha. (Same dealer that shafted me a little on the mondeo trade in) and got him a new cat converter pads and disks lol.

The fucker had a full tank of fuel so gave it a good hard drive a few times before it went in so I knew the brakes were cooked and warped a bit as well.

Motor range cowboy cunts.

Thanks for that mate! I remember the problems you had with that garage. My council has a claim form that I need to request so will give them a ring tomorrow. Fingers crossed I will at least be able to recover some of my costs.

with the pot hole claim, call the council and ask to be put through to their insurance department

then do the claiming stuff

the last time i claimed it was down to a third party doing repairs on the road so the council forwarded me their details and i wrote to them

very simply list the damage and ask them what they need from you to pursue the claim

DON'T SPEND MONEY WITHOUT THEM SAYING THEY WILL PAYOUT FOR YOUR EXPENSES!!!!!!!

i had to give them the aa report, then take it to 2 different garages to diagnose the fault and do a report on it, that cost me money so that went into the bill too

also, if there is suspension issues remember that bits need to be replaced in axle pairs

don't inflate the prices, get reputable companies to give you quotes for the parts, in writing, without discounts for being "your mate" too

seeing as i had to change both struts on mine i offered to pay the cost for the undamaged strut but not the labour needed to fit it as i would not have needed to change them other than for this pot hole i'd hit

so i was happy with the Ł500 odd cheque i got 2 weeks later

Thanks for that Dojj that's a good help. Unfortunately I couldn't avoid spending money getting it sorted as I need the car on the road. I sold the fooked wheels last night, got Ł400 quid for them which I was chuffed to bits about.

Strangely enough since going from 19s down to 16s my average MPG has gone from 48 to 55, so if I keep them long enough the fuel saving will pay for the new wheels lol.

Yes Glenny I should have, just cant help myself sometimes haha.

Just been reading through this Richie and I have to say, kudos to you for the time, money and effort you've put into your car.

It probably would have been easier and cheaper to start with a Titanium X Sport as the base car but then I guess where's the fun in that?

I have a Titanium X Sport and using your project as inspiration, I was thinking about tinting the rear lights and doing the black eye on the headlights. I'm not sure how they would look on a lighter coloured car and I read somewhere that tinting your lights is now an MOT failure???

My car

Richie, did you buy original Ford foglights or are they after-market? If they're after-market, did they fit ok? Someone at an airport car park scuffed the front left hand side of my car and chipped some of the silver of the foglight surround. I cannot for the life of me find out what colour of paint it is (even Ford don't know!!). So I was going to buy a pair of the the replica foglights online.

I'm sure he will come along to clarify and acknowledge he should of bought the more expensive car that you thankfully pointed out.
