Default help plz mk1 escort/sierra 16v rs2000 conversion

hi all. im most the way through my build im using a sierra 4x4 floor pan and most the running gear but im only going rwd not 4 wheel and using a rs2000 16v engine and a type 9 gear box

the problem im having is when fitting the starter motor the engine wont turn over ie the starter just sniping and then when i put a ratchet on the crank pulley bolt the engine wont turn undo the starter and it turns freely

im using a dohc flywheel from the 4x4 sierra and the starter i tryed a pinto one today and still the same any help will be great thanks dan

I'm thinking you should use an 8v DOHC sierra sump, starter (not 4x4) and the MT75 RWD gearbox and it will work out a lot better

Probably not but I'm not sure if the 8v 4x4 flywheel is different to a RWD version - so check that out also.

hi thanks for the reply i read the flywheels are the same ? but ill take it off tomorrow just got to find another one. looking at it today it looks like the starter is hitting the starter ring on the flywheel so thinking its about 4/5 teeth to big

think iv sorted the problem iv got a starter off a rwd sierra and its now turning over its a bit slow but getting better.

now just trying to sort out the wiring
