My new project saph, untaxed since '99
I have some more photos that I will upload later, they're worse that the ones above, but I've given it a wash since then.
In brief I've been wanting another white RWD saph for a long time and regretted selling my last one, so this came along from close by at a reasonable price, and I didn't want to pass it up.
I checked with the DVLA and it hasn't been taxed since 1999, the story goes that it had a HG problem, when the head was removed it was found to be badly corroded, so a new one was sourced (which is a 4x4 item) along with a new turbo. When the car was reassembled it never ran properly and it was left to rot, it changed hands several times over the years and noone ever did anything with it apart from let it rust and take it apart (the interior is completely stripped) but I got all the bits with it.
Anyway, my time is very limited so I don't have any ambitious goals set, I just want to get it running and cleaned up which will take a while once you see the other photos.

I need to upload them, I did plan on doing it tonight but I'm just in the door and away out again, I'm off work most of the wek so i'll do it tomotrrow I think.
Thats why I bought this tbh, it might be a rammer but at least I have it now rather than waiting another 1-2 years and having to pay more for the same condition of car, and I wanted a white one, so it was the right car at the right time.
I might just tart it up and flog it for a 'nice' one, but I'm quite happy to spend a lot of money on this car, be different if it was some sort of financial plan but there's no fun to me in buying an already nice car that I can't really do anything to, if you get my meaning. Creating and restoring it is a fucking headache but I enjoy it as well, it's an achievement.

It'll be good to see how you progress with this Rog.
Oh and those photos above look like they've been taken by a pro photographer - just thought i'd mention that

Yeah it's not too bad, needs sills fixed an a bit of welding here and there but looks worse than it is. Chassis rails and struts for example are mint, no rust at all.
I spent the evening stripping all the interior out and loading it into 2 cars to take home and store, it's only got the top of the dash and drivers seat in it now. Next time I'm over I'll remove the bumpers and skirts to see what else I find and make the job of fixing it easier if I don't have all that crap in the way.

The car is now away getting welded and some sort of underside resto as well, I likely won't be able to update photos for a while since I'm working away, so I hope I get a big shock (of a pleasant nature) next time I see it which probably won't be till
September, then it needs to get a fuel system, the inside painted and then the bodywork after that. Oh and there's the engine issue after that Gotta love a cheap cossie!

Yeah it took over an hour just with the pressure washer to get all the crap off it, I don't know how people coped without simple things like Karchers, it makes a job like that so easy.
I'm actually away at the moment mate, I will be in the uk for 5 days then away again so unlikely I will see the car myself tbh.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Good to see it being saved rather than broke up for bits , I've just started on mines again after a 3 year brake , finally got some enthusiasm !

Update, after little happening with the car over the last few months I have now looked at the shell again and realistically it will cost the equivalent of a decent saph to get upto the standard I'd be happy with. So taking that into account I have decided to combine this and the fact I've always wanted a cossie estate.
I'm now on the hunt for a good estate in a non shit colour which is proving to be a big ask. For the sake of ease I'm looking for a rwd/petrol injection/manual one so that I have a decent fuel system etc and it's less to have to swap over.
I'm in discussions about a couple of cars but one is rusty and the other one is 600 miles away, so transport costs are almost as muh as the car.
