Default Rosso Red - Zetec XR2 - NOW FOR SALE!

This is my second dabble with fiestas! Previously had a white xr2, 18 mounts ago which went wayyyyyyyy over the top.
Tried to build a dream spec from the start without enough money, then the chance of being made redundant from work put the final nail in the coffin.
I sold EVERYTHING (massive regret!!) and put all the money away in a savings account.

Had no real intentions of getting back into it, but will a solid car came up for sale not to far away from me I couldn't turn it down!

Was a bit of a gamble buying the car, I knew it was 100% solid but it had a few problems, wasn't running right, no history, no logbook, no tax or mot..

This is when I bought the car ..

Solid shell but massively botched engine. Was running plastic inlet which hit brake bar, wiring loo everywhere, electrical tape holding wires together, and even an extension lead to wire up the fuel tank!!

Tried to get it running to no joy, then tried the RS1800 inlet and ecu route with no joy, before biting the bullet and buying Weber 40's and megajolt.

Cleaned the car up and sorted most of the issues now, just working my way through things.

Car passed MOT with only advisory on the tyres could have bought new tyres but I want to change the wheels soon.

Been fixing a few things on the car the last few days, got the rev counter working and also changed the temp sensor to the standard CVH item.

Also bought a few parts!

4 pepperpots in good condition - seems everyone was hating on the other wheels which the car came with
Ford badge for the front - didnt look right plain!
Land Rover V8 gearbox mounts - old ones are gone
Standard XR2 fuel tank - the one on the car is an injection tank (will be going up for sale)
Also bought 2 good condition Recaro's :cool!:

Also found out the rear hub has had a stud kit fitted which is pretty cool :cool!: (ignore the spacer, its gone now!)

Thanks for the comments, glad people like it

Removed the injection fuel tank today, and put it back to standard tank.
Injection tank is now going up for sale and the money will go towards some front spot lights and polybushes

Went for the first proper drive in the fiesta tonight! Went up through some lanes in Brecon and over the Black Mountains.

After its first serious drive I noticed 2 things .. Carbs need setting up - every now and then it would back fire through the carbs and its not very smooth at lower revs, goes bit jerky .. will prob get it set up in Willfield motors at the end of the month so will get too see how much BHP it is.
The second problem is that the car is VERY soft .. wallows all over the place. Also the front tyres catch the arches slightly on compressions in the road. Deffinately needs to change the suspension for something bit stiffer. Prob go with some Spax.

Im guestimating the car is around 140/150 bhp but it gave tocca's clio 172 a run for its money! Not over the mountains though, as he is wild in the car and I was driving sensible (scared!)

Some pics .. my XR2, tocca was in the clio 172, an Josh in the Manta

Drove to RS Combe yesterday (3 up) and went for a drive down to Swansea today .. racking up the miles!

Can't fault the car at the moment, not had a single issue with it. Didn't even over heat whilst sitting in traffic today in Swansea, which I was shocked about seems how hot it was!

Pulled up on drive today and have officially done 1000 miles in 1 month!

Even more importantly, the car averaged exactly 30 mpg! 258 miles to 39 litres. Not bad for a 1.8 zetec on Weber 40's!

NOW FOR SALE !!

Testing the water on this, I really DO NOT want to sell this car, but I have seen another car for sale at a great price which I cannot refuse! So if I can get what I want for the fiesta then I will sell it and buy that.

Had the car for 4 months now, I bought it with the zetec conversion already done, but it was not running right due to the wiring. I then spent a lot of time and money to get the car sorted and running correctly.
Since getting the car running correctly and MOT’ed, it has not missed a beat! I can’t fault the car really, drives well, handles well, and has been 100% reliable.

I started a build thread - http://www.xrtwo.com/forum/viewtopic...111009&start=0 this shows what has been done to the car and when for anyone interested.

The important part, THE PRICE! I want £2000 for the car which I think its worth. I have spent a lot more than that on the car to get it how it is now.
Please do not offer me any less as that is the price. I WILL NOT TAKE ANY LESS. £2000 it goes, if not I will happily keep her.
Also, please do not spam the thread with what you think its worth, will I split etc... Any opinions or questions then please pm me!

The spec;

MK2 Fiesta XR2, Rosso Red – E829 KHT – Still registered as 1.6 on logbook – Solid shell, has been resprayed at some point in its life and has had some panels replaced. Few little rust patches (on both sides on the rear foot well – where rear passenger’s feet go. And one small hole in the boot, under the washer bottle.
At the moment, the car only has the carpet and 2 Recaro seats fitted. I have the full interior to go back in the car. The only thing I don’t have is the parcel shelf.

Engine – 1.8 zetec out of escort gti. Internals are standard. Running twin weber 45’s with megajolt management.

Gearbox – Standard XR2, uprated gearbox mounts fitted

Suspension – SPAX Suspension, full Floflex polybush throughout, track rod ends and bottom ball joints all replaced at the same time, all parts were BRAND NEW. They have done less than 500 miles!

Brakes – Standard units but with new pads fitted. Brakes feel perfect to me so felt no need to upgrade them.

MOT – 9 months remaining
Tax – 2 or 3 months remaining

Im sure I have missed things out so please pm me with any questions. The car is solid, drives well, turns heads, had alot of new parts fitted and alot of money spent on it. It is ideal if someone wants to have a standard looking car for shows, a standard looking fast road car or can easily be turned into a track car.

I am based just outside of Cardiff

Few pics – more can be seen on the build thread, or I can send more via email

Im also in south wales and have a red one with RS1800 engine - how did the wiring on yours as i need mine doing. Ive read the guide on xr2 site but still no joy and so just want to drop it off somewhere and then collect it when its done. I have too many projects on the go at the moment.

Mine is running injection though not carbs
