Black 3dr Cosworth
Bought my 3dr cossie back in october 2011.
Always wanted a black 3dr from about the age of 10, so when i was 19 i decided to start saving and buy myself a cossie. Ive had sierras since i was 12 years old so i know them pretty well and ive had around 23 of them to date.
Was looking at getting a real nice 2wd saph, didnt think a 3dr was achievable within my budget.
But i was lucky to get my mint black 3dr within budget, and i picked it up in October 2011.
Heres a pic taken the day i picked it up.
I took the decision to put it in the garage as i didnt want to use it during the winter and i was only 20 at the time so wanted to wait until i was 21 for insurance purposes.
Did a few small bits, gave it a good clean and wax, got rid of the shit small front plate and had phil at SCR repaint the rear spoiler.
I managed to resist the urge to take it out even for a quick spin round the block and she sat covered up in the garage for 6 months.
Insured it last april, Ran lent me his rs7's for the summer as the standard wheels were a bit dull.
This is how i ran it last summer.
I didnt use the car much, think it did a total of 900 miles through the summer (weather was shit and i wont take it out in the rain)
Overall it was a bit of a disappointment, and there were a few things i wasn't happy with. So i drove it into the garage at the end of august and it sat there un touched all winter.
I didnt have any plans to use the car this summer but over the past few weeks i have got some enthusiasm back for the car.
Dragged it out of the garage, brakes were stuck on and tyres flat
Started buying some new bits for it
New wheels quickly placed on to see what they look like.
Front studs beaten out ready for longer ones
Rears done
Bought a new pair of calipers as i was never happy with the brakes last year, these are now fitted along with a set of ferodo ds2500 pads
My favorite part so far are the original style dealer plates, to replace the nasty post 2001 euro font ones that were on there.
Engine bay stripped ready for me to do the cambelt at the weekend, i dont know when it was last done so il do it for piece of mind.
Still loads of little bits left to buy/do but hoping to tax the car at the end of the month and get her back out.

Respect to you for somehow resisting not taking her for a spin. Lovely car. I'm currently saving for a Cossie. Hoping to get one end of next year. And waiting for Insurance to go down. But yeah you got a beauty mate.

Cheers for the comments fellas.
Wheels are on but ive had to take one off as the tyre went flat, taking that back to my mate later.
This week i went and robbed some parts of an old scrap saph
Got an airtec rs500 cooler, 044 pump and a 3bar and also a nice stainless pipe for the bottom of my rad.
Also managed to get the push is clips for the bumper so i can screw my front numberplate on, 57p each plus vat from ford. Got a new oil filter while i was there aswell.
Should of had the cambelt done this weekend but the post office fucked me about so wont be getting it til tomorrow.

Well the car was due to be taxed and on the road tomorrow, but somehow the cambelt slipped and put the timing out.
I now have bent exhaust valves, so im pretty fucked off.
Ive spent a fortune on the car over the past 2 months, now this has happened ive had enough.
Not sure if im going to break/sell/fix the car but the cover is going back on and im going to forget about it for a bit.

Fart of the Purniture
You know what I think of your 3 door Jim, and your doing the right thing sorting it out - at least when it's on the road you can use it this summer and next, and by the end of that you will know how you feel - it's good your giving it a chance.

Cheers for the comments fellas.
Spent the last 2 days doing the head, not something i want to be doing on a hot Saturday but oh well it needs to be done.
Inlet side
Spring compressor was fouling the head so i had to take it to work on Friday and modify it with 4 large nails.
All the exhaust valves done
Head set
Last valve going in
All done
Tappets going back in, cams are also back in but didnt take a pic.
Thats it for the weekend, im going to spend sunday out in the sunshine rather than in my garage. Will give the cylinder head to my mate later so he can run it through the parts washer when hes at work on monday.
Then hopefully one night this week we can get the head back on....

Well the car is nearly done now, had loads of issues along the way but im finally happy enough with it to tax it on thurs.
16 bent valves on the spoiler of my dead saph
Head getting torqued down
We re checked the torque settings on the cam caps because it was making a whining noise (which turned out to be the timing belt tension)
As we were doing this we found one of the studs for the cam cap had a damaged thread, we tried another m8 nut which didnt work so we re cut the thread which sorted the problem out.
Finally out on the drive, a mate of mine is coming round this week to wash it for me and she should be on the road on thursday. Got a few little jobs left to do.
Its been a struggle but we are finally there, loads of time and money later but iam looking forward to getting her back on the road
