GTI van project
Hi all, another newb, another van project, I been reading through a lot van projects on here and I thought I'd give it a go myself, with a lot of help from some prop e'er Ford heads,
My plan is to change the 1.8 n/a engine to a 1.8 td endura de with intercooler, and a few tweaks, lowering, GTI kit all round, back doors welded and made into single lift door and finally a respray, Matt black is my first choice.
So if any one can offer advice or tips they will be greatly appreciated
Thanks for looking

I've seen the rear doors changed for a single door, so I was thinking if welding the two doors together and blanking out the windows, my question is, will I have to strengthen the roof to compensate for the weight of the the single door and has anyone done this before, plus where can I get the hinges to do this?

Welding the doors together will make it fucking heavy and the roof area is not designed to take the weight.. not to say it cant be done just would need strength added. I have not seen it done before but I suspect some hinges off a 4x4 bootlid could be modded to work. Cant really offer help as ive not done it.
