Cheers mate.

Been a busy boy since the weekend. After I finished work I sprayed my front doors and bonnet. I left to dry till sunday eve then bought them home to fit on monday. Came out lots better than the shell too. Still few bits in it but nothing that cant be rubbed out.
So by the end of the day I managed to fit the doors and bonnet. Had to play with the bonnet to get the gap down the sides even. I also sprayed matt black the underside of the bonnet and hoovered the carpet for a nice clean look. I also had to be careful as I used thinners on a rag to clean all the rubber trim around the doors, windows and the piece that runs the length of the roof and down each a/c pillars.
I refitted all the trim in the boot too. Reattached all clips, rubbers, boot catch, the lot. I also fitted my rear lights, false boot floor and parcel shelf. Now its starting to look more like a car

However the wheels are 2 different offsets and tyre sizes. Two tyres are 255 and two are 225. The 225's fit on the rear fine albeit only just.

The fronts also JUST clear the suspension.

Both front and rear could do with longer studs as theres not really enough meat to get nuts on safely.
Now the front also posses a problem. I know Id need some narrower tyres so if I got 225's on the back maybe 205's on the front?? Bit of stretch never hurt. But maybe also need in a 35 profile instead of 40! You'll see why in the next pics! To go with that, I think I'll need either standard suspension again to raise it up of a set of coilovers. Harsh I know, but when on lock its rather close to the top of the arch..........and the front and back tbh! Along with a smaller profile tyre I could also remove the arch liner for a few extra mm clearance. The wheels look so good Im happy to work around the problem to get them fitted. Harsh ride wouldnt bother me as Id only drive on weekends, plus I dont go far anyway, or standard ride hight I think would be ok too. Maybe just some stiffer springs :thumb: However due to this the black wheels may need to stay for ford fair.

Thats it for now. Im currently working on re-smoothing where the rear arches start to flair on the door. Hopefully tomorrow they will both be ready for paint if not painted. Cheers.

This is looking good, I prefer the older style rear lights, but that wouldn't be original.
Keep up the good work

Yesterday and today Ive been doing the worst job. Trying to smooth the rear door/arch nicely. Its a right royal pain in the ass, especially the tram lines that run down the door. The lines on the fibreglass kit dont really match the door properly so Ive blended in best I can but its a pig of a job. In fairness I could keep doing minor adjustments for ages but Im hoping what Ive done will look ok in paint.

Will mark up tomorrow for cutting! hmy: Some of the slats are broken. They were a bodged repair before I got the car. I did fibreglass back to normal again but with all the moving around the garage/house/garden its bent and twisted and just cracked again. I'm going to cut the whole slatted section out so once cut will just need smoothing and then all finished. Saw this on a red escort on here ages ago and thought it looked good. The fact that the slats are broken has sealed the deal

So today the door are ready for pre paint preparations, so too are the mirrors and bar the section I'm cutting out on the bumper....that's ready too. Another productive day. I'll see how the weather is for spraying tomorrow, if its a bit iffy I'll spray at work on Saturday and bring home Sunday night. That'll leave tomorrow to play with that shite excuse for a front bumper. I've picked up some threaded bar/nuts & washers to make the fixings for it that are missing, Then its onto adding my wide sections to meet the arches. Hopefully more pics tomorrow. :thumb:

Just a quick one. Basically I was gonna move the no. plate to the rear bumper so I smoothed over the hole in the bumper for the light. Ive now decided against this so decided to put the hole back. I couldnt just 'pop' out the fibreglass/filler as underneath was damaged so I cut out the area and plastic welded in a section from a donor bumper I had. Ive never plastic welded before but was happy with the outcome.
I also cut out the slatted section in the bottom of the bumper. Couple of the slats had been repaired previously but all the moving around had meant it cracked and I couldnt be bothered to deal with that again. Although in the pic it looks a bit wonky its actually not. Was all measured out and the curved ends are both the same.

Ive just re wired in the cable for the airbag on my replacement standard steering wheel. I have fitted almost all screws/nuts/bolts that I had at some point misplaced Door handles are all on, as are door cards, glove box and fuse box cover. So too are new kick panels. Its took about 3 hours worth of hoovering to get the carpet clean and free of shite. Ive Got AVO coilovers to fit, along with extended studs to fit my comp mos. Still need to sort the front bumper but I have a replacement already. Then its pretty much tidy everything up and wire in headlights. Will need cutting and polishing but other than that the finishing line is in sight.

I was gonna leave without originally......although recently been thinking about the RS accessory/cabby spoiler. Prefer it to the gti as it losses the middle leg.

Wow! Very impressed with the amount of effort going into this.

The fact it was a bit of a shed to start with, and the fact your going all out on it, outside in the rain. What you have done is quite simply amazing!

Be proud very proud!

Goes to show, take your time, bit of effort, excellent job!

I think you should keep it as a long term project and eventually do a floor pan swop with a sierra and maybe 4wd cosworth running gear. Any good at welding?

Oh and 4 door cars are cool.

Its almost done. Should be at Ford Fair although not quite 100% finished. Got the coilovers, extended wheel studs fitted. The ride height needs setting up though. Also need to replace 2 wishbones and sort a leaking front caliper! Bodywork wise needs some spray touch ups ( not likely to happen in this weather) and my splitter/lower splitter and a few other bits going for dipping. Also need to remake the bottom part of 1 hockey stick but cant it now as my bumpers elsewhere being sprayed with the spoiler. Its all small things really but with the weather and only 1 week left, not all will get done in time. But fingers crossed it'll be ready to travel.
