Cheers. Ive got everything now. So I have full leather rear bench and door cards with half leather up front (full leather front will cook me in summer!) Will tidy up some interior bits n pieces. Got new wheels, hopefully here tuesday. Exhaust is blowing so need to address that. Got a replacement fuel pump to fit......and just generally finish my spraying/polishing.

Thanks mate, To be honest I dont like filler! Fibreglass is not so bad. I try to do as much in that stuff and use minimal filler. Tbh there isnt that much on here. Ive seen a thread for an rst and the whole rear quarter is skimmed in the stuff. That 1 rear wing equals the amount on the whole car as most gets sanded off!

Sorry mate, not done anything for my second week now and next week is Ford Fair! After that though I hope to do as mentioned above. Mainly get the paint sorted, everything else can be done on a rainy day.

And Im yet to source another bumper, skint now I bought new wheels!!!! But Im gonna try something a little bit different. Still keep it mk6 front with some nice details.
More than likely wont have any rear spoiler.

Cheers for the comments. Always good for motivation to carry on

TBH the only time I laughed was at the filler work.....which I even told him on my thread on EVO! We both been following each others as its all fairly similar.

Heres a couple more I forgot to add of the arches in the eralier stages. The stages where you think 'what the hell have i done'!? I hope people dont mistake my thread as a copy of his lol, Mine was started on Evo a long time ago.

what I've seen the two cars will look different ill admit I was thinking the same as you two but he has mentioned he was letting students work on it as a project so of course it wont be perfect we all have to learn somewhere but since he's been working on it on his own he's turned it around big style. and also doctor Stavros he mentions he got those past cars in that condition so he really didn't do that to them so you shouldn't judge him on that. Anyway good work Lee looking sweet

Was on ebay and I did see the small dent along the bottom in the pic.

...However, it never stated the crack above the lower grill, the dent on the driver side area under the screw/bolt holes, fog light bracket broken and the fact there's NO mounting point across the front of the bumper! My old bumper had a whole plastic brace on the inside for mounting purposes. This one is shaped in foam and looks like it should match my rear bumper i.e have an area with the threaded bars fixed to the foam! 5hit or what!? I am trying for a full or partial refund as I could keep it and work around these problems if need be. Just a pain in the ass as none of this was detailed in the description, so technically its miss sold! :nutter:
Oh well, got plenty of time to work it all out lol

Well I asked for some form of refund as I could probably sort it out but its still a giant pain in the ass!
After seeing the small dent in the picture I sent a message asking the general condition of the bumper and I never got a reply!!!! Prob shouldnt of got it but it was cheap! That and the fact on ebay it should of displayed the bad points. Obviously you get negative feedback for sumit like this so you expect to be fully informed lol Live and learn eh?

Not yet mate Poor weather = no work! Still trying to find out why the fuel pump wont work too. Gonna try and patch in a new earth wire to see if it runs then. If it does then its a bad earth somewhere between the fuse box and the pump. If it still doesnt work then could be the fusebox.....possibly although hope not. Other leccy systems still seem to work.
As for bodywork I had to rub down 2 front doors and bonnet because of bubbles. Think there was water in the compressor. As I scuffed the top layer of paint off it revealed the original body colour! Spent ages rubbing down the affected area but it wouldnt smoothly blend in to the rest of the paint! Kept almost flaking off meaning it kept lipping! Really pissed me off, was relatively smooth (400/600 wet/dry) so dont know why it kept coming away in places! Maybe its the paint, its celly so I may just redo it in 2k as that seems to be trouble free for most people. Otherwise im just waiting for weather to brighten up. I Have my replacement bumper and everything else I need. Just gotta spray it all up and rebuild it up.

Well this has been a while. To fix the fuel pump not priming I changed the fusebox and found a bad earth. That seemed to of done the trick so the car now runs. Considering it hadnt been run for months I was chuffed as soon as I chucked some fuel in it fired up 1st time.
While the fuel tank was down I tackled some minor rust on the n/s chassis leg. Good ol' wire brush on the grinder, some rust killer/primer then a nice layer of Waxoyl should keep the tin worm at bay. I didnt do the area that houses the tank as theres pretty much no rust there! Well happy considering the state of some cars lol I also gave the tank a quick clean and slapped on some silver Hammerite. Looks much better.

I also 600 wet n dry the car ready for spraying.....again! As I was going to run out of paint due to having to re-do the doors/bonnet etc I decided to instead buy 2k rather than cellulose. The celly was way too thin, didnt cover well and took ages to dry.
The main problem was that by doing this all outside my tiny garage I was at the mercy of the weather. After fully prepping, just as I was gonna sort the paint mixture it rained! After it dried I dried the whole car and managed to get a good coat of paint on. However the powers that be decided to piss on my so called bonfire by lightly showering on my fresh paint. You can see in the pics below it was all looking pretty sweet before the rain, now I have to re 600 the car where the rain drops have left marks in the paint. Only now having to wait for a proper day I can trust to stay dry!

Its gonna get another 600 maybe throughout the week in the hope the next weekend will be a dry one. Once this is done and dry, I'll spray the front door and bonnet (sat at work) and once dry can go straight on. Should start coming together a bit quicker now.

Thanks guys. I've started flatting it out tonight but as it was only the 1st coat its not enough to polish up what's there. Got about halfway with the 600 s after another night it should be back to the point before paint again. Also got a week off soon so I'm hoping it'll all start coming together a bit quicker soon.

Why are you leaving it so long between coats? It should be done in one go.

Not sure if I forgot to say above but its because while I was waiting for it to go a bit tacky before the 2nd coat I got caught out by the rain! This is all being done outside my garage!

I know, a right ball ache. On the plus side Ive spent both monday eve and tonight flatting back and Ive only the inside of the boot left to do so almost back on track. My aim is to get prepped for friday so that after work I can spray it up and so its all done. I can then move onto the panels

Thanks for the offer anyway lol Don't mind getting my hands dirty. It'll be nice to say I done it myself regardless of the finish.

Well Ive now learnt to not be so messy! After flatting back the watermarks from the rain I thought Id clean the car off the next day before painting. However the slurry had dried rock solid so yep, AGAIN, had to rub it down! Almost lost the will to carry on after this! Ive never had this before but then this is the 1st time Ive flatted 2k paint.
On a more positive note the shell and boot are now sprayed. And After rushing to finish (shouldnt I know) Got a couple runs. Nothing that cant be cut and polished though.

Like lots of cars Ive seen over the years, they mostly look better in pics than when you see them in real life and this ones no exception. Standard issue orange peel but nothing that cant be sorted. Ive made sure theres plenty of paint on there to allow for flatting back. Soon be time for some panels to go back on.

Ok so on ok update but no pics, sorry. I have sprayed up both front doors and the bonnet at my work today. Did find a couple of chips in the old paint. So had to flat out the area before continuing the spraying. Got around 3 proper good coats on, fully included with small bits in it, but nothing that cant be flatted out.
I also removed all masking from the shell of the car. Now as its been on so long I got sticky trim. I know thinners works but thats risking it a bit so may have to find something else.
I also tidied out the car from having pretty much ALL my sh1t in there for the last couple years. Just needs a hoover out and the front seats removing due to sale. Although the car needs to be out the garage to get them out and my battery died! So now thats on the charger
I also have the following week off work so hoping to get lots done. Ill leave the bonnet and doors till tomorrow night before getting them out the way at work and putting them back where they belong.

Shame about the runs in the paint. Did you get a bit excited and put too much paint on at one time.

Yes a little Glenn! I rubbed out a couple before the last coat so now I only have that 1 run. I also have to spot fill a couple of tiny bits. 1 on the roof as I picked a bit of crap out (yes my fault i know) and 1 tiny nick on the wing. I just dabbed in some of my paint mixture to build it up ready to flat back at a later stage.
