Mk1 escort, what to do?????
Hi all, Im new here! Ive been lucky enough to buy a very very tidy Mk1 2dr escort. Shes a one owner, genuine 47000 miles. 1300 XL, automatic! The body work is in exceptional condition, I mean not a spot of rust anywhere!
Ive come on here as Im really not sure what to do with her? Keep totally original? RS her???
Help
I do have pictures but dont seem to be able to add them?

That is epic, depends on what you want to do, I'd be very tempted to stick a hot pinto and 5 speed box under the bonnet with some bilstein suspension andwilwood brakes. I know there's nothing new or radical about that, but its a great way of making the car seriously fun to drive. That and keep it in mint condition.

umm, how easy a job do you want it to be?
Vauxhall XE
zetec
duratec
pinto
1.6 xflow
SR20 nissan
YB
2.3 volvo
they'll all go in, think the easiest would be 1.6 xflow, but I wouldnt really bother as they are going for silly money, zetec would be easier than duratec, but duratecs are more tuneable

It seems a minefield of choices, and a huge range of specs (RS, Grp4, etc) Pinto engines to Lotus twincams.......
I must admit the rally spec cars do look fantastic

I'd keep it like that, if you want a modified one, sell that and buy one. I think modifying it would de-value it.
It looks a peach, what did you give for it?

Not entirely sane
I would leave it looking standard but fit a nice Pinto and five speed box. Upgrade brakes and suspension. If you do it as bolt on parts only and keep all the original stuff then it can easily be converted back to original. Best of both worlds then.
