Default zetec pop

hi there
this is my project which i started on the 7th december 2011
i am currently studying motorsport at uni, so i will try to put my knowledge to good use, i am only 19 and have only got experience from up keeping my mini mayfair. this project will probably move very slowly as funds are very short meaning a lot of parts will probably be fabricated.
since beginning of december i have managed to get.
105e axle
type 9 gearbox
2.0l blacktop
red esc box
zx6r bike carbs
escort front suspension
converted zetec rwd sump

the plans for this is to have a 2.0 zetec running a type 9 gearbox, with standard 105e rear axle and suspension, and to run escort suspension up front, giving me disc brakes up front and a steering rack rather than the original steering box
cheers for any comments

well this weekend not much has happened, i managed to get hold of a old retro ford sump so that's another problem solved, i was also having a word with the guy who sold it and he said for the engine mounts i could use old x flow mounts and cut them and weld them to a new plate that is bolted to the zetec, so it looks like the engine mounts will be a diy job.
i dont know how to weld either so i got my dad to teach me on the cup on the escort strut as this was a little rotten, and heres my work

and a couple of weeks ago i finished the rear axle and the x member and tcas here they r, still aint got a picture of the axle finished as it under a load of other bits

and heres the new sump

just a small update managed to put my struts back together, they look rather clean

these are my strut tops they have been re angled, i used dimensions from my brothers escort to work out the distances. they are not welded in yet but the general idea is there

my x member has also been welded so it can be bolted into the 100e,

the rear has been bolted back together and is now on wheels,

and the inside rear has been painted

and this is how i modified the 1.8 cvh oilpickup pipe to fit

i have started working on the wiring now, and i have managed to get side lights working, head lights working, indicators working and the brake lights working. i have also managed to wire up the fuel pump and ignition, so i can get it started. i plan to finish off all the wiring and then i can take it all apart again do a little bit more welding and then paint it. i was thinking about coach painting it as i cannot afford to get it sprayed. has anyone else done this and what are your opinions of coach painting.

heres a video to keep you interested

a few updates
made battery tray

mounted starter button

made centre dash to hide the brake reservior pots and made right hand side dash, aint to bad since all i used was a vice and hammer to get the bends

and used nigels idea to make a bonnet release in the car

ive also ordered some trailor lights to use in the front since i dont feel like paying Ł100 for a original set of sidelights

all detachable panels are finished, now i can start on the shell in this lovely christmassy wheather

ive also been looking at getting new rubbers i know that i have to buy 100e glass rubbers, but i was wondering if anyone knows whether or not you can use mini rubbers for the boot and doors, as i know they are more common and should be able to get them cheaper than the 100e ones.

cheers for the comments

For bits like door rubbers and window seals and general stuff too, try Carbuilder solutions and also Woolies for bits. Looks like it will be a cool car when finished.

cheers guys, i think im gunna weld it up and use the roof one
bit of a backwards step today.
last week i prepped the front for some primer, but it started snowing so i used some hammerite gloss white to cover bare metal.
so when i primered the front end it reacted over the hammerite stuff. any recommendations?

cheers for the comments
