r.i.p or restore?
hi folks, iam currently forced into driving a 1.1 fiesta due to not being able to find anyone in my area who is willing to restore my 4x4, its had an accident in past and was garaged for years till it was repaired (nothing major just side swipe to rear quarter) it was logged on the log book repaired and put back on road it was then purchased off ebay by my father he had new clutch fitted by mr clutch who didnt know what they were doing that lasted couple of months before going back for another as it collapsed (shit bits) they fitted another then four weeks later it started to play up again! i bought off of father and had another fitted and guess what! yep again started to play up has trouble engaging gears when warm got pissed off and parked it up two years have passed and thought i should do something with it, body wise its ok scab on roof top of winscreen usual spot, rear arch slight scab and the rear chasis where the cradle mounts is rough on drivers side its only done 46,000 since new its in ash black (rare now apparently) and engine is purrrfic.
is it worth sticking 3000 into it to get body repaired and resprayed and moted ? but most of all has anyone had the same problem with the clutch situation could it be as simple as the wrong oil in the box? i have plenty of bits t.box g.boxes only thing i aint got is a spare engine. was going to do a 2.3 conversion but there is no real gain as they are a lower bhp the rs is the only one as far as iam aware thats 150bhp all oter variants are lower. possibly may bolt in an st170 lump and keep the original to go back in in the future. PLEASE HELP DONT WANT TO SCRAP!

there are many levels of spec for the 4x4s from the options list
top spec has
A/C & electric Sunroof
ford remote locking alarm
premuim audio including special rear shelf speakers
dual airbags
heated front/rear screens
opening rear quarter windows
ones in need of tlc can sell for as little as £500

My opinion... the car will never be worth what your thinking of putting into it. So if you like to lose money and the car will be staying for a good amount of time, go for it.
But, with it being registered, by the sounds of it, a good amount of rust, paintwork needed and something dodgy going on with the clutch etc would be too much for myself (How hard was it hit? could it be twisted and causing the clutch to not mount correctly or twist when being driven? 4 clutches in such small amount of miles is ringing alarm bells sadly.
In the long run, it would be better to sell that one for bits etc and buy a good one. Would cost you less in the long run.

doing to keep wasnt a hard hit just a glance was runnin perfect until mr clutch got there hands on it and hasnt been same since thts why i was thinking wrong g.box oil, twice was poor patent parts i think as it was the fingers that went or the little springs came out of the plate cant remember it hasnt been given any stick and was well looked after just two years of sitting outside (mostly undercover) has caused the surface rot but as i said got loads of bits new panels wings all the stuff and more but its finding a garage to do the work as recently moved and have no workshop

Same colour as my escos, is a nice colour. Sadly the prices of these cars are against them. Can you not store it for a long period under cover so it will not be out in the rain etc? Maybe look at it in 5 years time and see what the values are like then?

value is in the eye of the beholder, would love to store again but that would end up sitting there until theres just four tyres and some hoses, lmao due to history it will be back on road as a daily run round and i will buy another or buy another and cut mine up and convert the fezzie to a 4x4 2.0 i think that would be good for a laugh! saw the mk1 on ebay that had a scooby welded to the bottom bet that was fun!

i loved my 4x4, gutted when i had to sell it, but as said unless you can do the work yourself, you'll end up spending more than the cars worth!
not sure whats going on with the clutch, i used a lucas kit and fitted a 1.8td to a mates and both were fine. check that mr clutch are putting a full kit in not just the clutch plate.
also mate word of friendly advice, using punctuation makes reading your posts easier

for £500 they replaced the lot and reground the fly wheel. Though i believe the r.s has an alloy f.w so iam wondering if they put in a steel one, could that be the cause of my problems? no offense my grammar is poor i know.

I just scrapped my MK5 RS2000 track car and got another shell! To be honest you can't restore it as you can't get floors etc for em so you just have to try make plates etc with never look right

If you get anything else done re: the clutch, stay away from mr clutch like the plague, have heard nothing but horror stories about them from around the country regarding parts and service.
Could you not get the car running and road legal again so not spending as much money and see if you still have the love for it once your using it, also if you decide not to do anything with it may be able to sell it rather than scrap
