It's coming up to 3 years ago now we started this project so it's about time I started a resto thread. I've been putting pictures up now and again but will start from the beginning, if I can find all the pictures.
After we got the car home it was in a sorry state, some one had left a car battery on the roof that had leaked. You can imagine the mess that left, the door skins where nackered and the heater bubble had some real rust. So we removed the front wings and cut out the heater bubble
Then we cleaned up the inner wings they weren't too bad really
The previous owner had tried to repair the rear pillars which had rusted through after we got through all the filler this is what we was left with
This wasn't good so we sourced a pair of rear quarters and fitted them to replace the pillars
While we was doing that we also stripped the engine bay down to bare metal
Seam welded the chassis while we was in there and put strengthening plates in

We also got a spit to put the car on , the best bit of kit we've bought so far. Makes it so easy to flip over a and no more laying on the cold concrete floor in the garage
We also replaced the splash guards from the top of the inner wings
Then we started to clean the floor back to metal to see what we were dealing with
We also fitted a bigger diff tunnel to make room for the atlas axle that would be going on

We then started to fit the rear link boxes for the back axle, it was decided to 5 link the axle and to put coilovers in the rear too, so we had to fit turrets to mount the rear coilovers in
This is the chassis mount for one of the axle bars
This stops side to side movement
Front suspension all removed
Both rear wells had a bit of rust so it was decided to replace them, just start from fresh
Once they were fitted we had to cut some of the arch away to make room for the new rear wheel arches that we were fitting, colin McRae +2" was decided.
A new piece was welded in to make a new tub for the bigger wheels
Also while doing that welded some mounts in for the roll cage on the rear arches

Here's a pic of the rear turrets
Welded a strengthening box on each of the link boxes
After we had done the rear arches and all the link boxes we replaced the chassis rails on both sides for new ones and gave it a coat of primer
Then seam sealed all the jionts

The wings were refitted and a new front panel and a new rear panel
Roll cage to be cleaned and fitted
Rollcage fitted adding some extra bars
New door skins fitted
There were parts on the sills we weren't happy with so they were removed
Rear arches fitted and picked up some wheels but more on those later

So after all the body had been done or most of it anyway a coat of high build primer was added
Meanwhile we managed to get hold of two wheels for the rear same as what we had but in 10"/15" and a massive offset, they were still new and in good condition just need polishing.
