Just read this through and some difference there now ,it's looking ace bud . I can vouch for the amount of soul destroying work that has to go into getting it to this stage cos I've spent the last 5 years on and off doing my mk1 to near the same spec so well done
Started to make the centre console and a replacement for the glove box where the new fuse box is going. This is just the pieces being made got to cut all the gauge holes and switched out once where happy with how it looks, think its getting covered in carbon fibre.
Started on the fuse box today relocating it ti where the glove box used to be, extended the wiring and braided it too, also made a start on the twin fuel pump loom
Should be able to start running it all through soon
Not done much recently due to certain events but have picked up some new wheels split rims, they came off a thunder saloon sierra cosworth 12"/16" rears got slicks on at the moment but going to refurb them
Its about 6ft 3 wide, certainly a little wider than a normal 309 lol
Its been in bits since not long after I got it, went a bit mad with a resto on it and have since setup a business so its took a back seat for a while now. With any luck it will be back together at some point this year.
Finally got the first rim front finished through all 3 stages, put next to one that hasn't been done. Come out pretty good where pleased with the result 5hours of sanding and polishing
Well the painting today didn't go according to plan, we started early at 7.30am.
After we got it ready I started putting the first coat on, and noticed immediately there was a problem. We had sanded the car with too higher grade paper so it was too smooth so the paint just started to slide, not a good start to the day. I know a schoolboy error so after lots of swearing we let it dry and sanded the whole car down again, then started from scratch.
This time came out much better, here's a few pics can't get the car out yet but you get the ideal
Going to leave it for a week then give it a good 2000 wet and dry and polish I think
