J18 COS Cosworth rebuild and restoration
#412
Small update, Took the car down to NMS to be live mapped.
Current spec is,
Turbo technics T35.55
Siemens 3102 55lb injectors
K&N panel filter
Mongoose exhaust
Pro Alloy RS500 cooler
Two and a half hour journey down in the worst possible rain, when we arrived the car was a total mess.
Karl and Olly done a brilliant job in mapping it, although I've not had much chance to use it, it does pull a lot harder now.
Not as much as I'd hoped but I know what to do to improve it.
Car made 360 - 365 bhp with 28psi peak and holds at 26-27psi.
Only thing holding the car back was the clutch. The car has a std old stock Genuine Ford AP clutch kit and you can get it to slip in 4th and 5th.
So Karl recommended the fitment of an AP 6 paddle formula clutch and fit the AB07 inlet cam I have. So that's a job for next yeat and I'll pop back down for a map tweak after introducing an 044 pump, swirl pot and AN fittings.
Also need an uprated breather as the std is struggling now.
Hopefully should touch 400bhp then, Got next Saturday to totally gut the car and make it clean for Cumbria as I've come down with fever so no playing with cars today

We attended Cumbria with the Durham RSOC on Sunday and although it chucked it down on the way there, it turned out a nice day overall. Spoke to a good few people who I didn't know, and received a lot of positive feedback
It's been a long time since I attended a show with the car and it brought it all back, roll on Croft
Only managed a couple of pics and I'm no photographer
Thanks to Jeff for his help throughout the day

Stunning car, my engine spec is same has yours and in dilemma as to which clutch to go for now to.

The problem I had was, when I started the resto I wanted everything as near standard as possible. Then towards the end I had a change in direction so my std clutch struggled.
I'm stuck with 360-365 now with it slipping from time to time when I wanted 400.
The clutch fitted now is a genuine Ford old stock AP plate.

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
Hi, im fairly new here, got a couple sapphire cossies here which im going to make into one, Ive got one on a rollover jig at the moment, getting ready to paint it underneath.
I am in total awe of the work you have done on yours though, that must of taken alot of dedication and sometimes forcing yourself to go out and get on with it! I take my hat off to you, and the car is a credit to you mate, top job!
