This was bought for what it is...... one of the last of the leviathans.
If your worried about how many miles to the gallon a car with 500bhp will do, eliminate C63 AMG's, M5's, even M3 (V8's) and the suchlike out of your search list.

I'm now on my second Mercedes C63 AMG, stunning machines with performance to embarrass some supercars.
This one has 537bhp, Quaife LSD and just 12k miles from new, now living in Hull I just couldn't resist purchasing a registration I saw on DVLA.
Also just finished restoring this..................
Fully adjustable coil over suspension, disc brakes, 998 professionally rebuilt engine from Corley Conversions running on twin strombergs. I was going to put twin 40's on, but to gain another 10bhp it just wasn't worth it and the strombergs give you the low down torque (What there is of it). Just got to get it registered now, as it has been off the road for over 15 years.

From Memory (Fading) the engine that Carl Norris built for me put out 428bhp, I still have the dyno print out somewhere, if you don't have a copy i'll try and find it for you.
I'll settle for seeing it once she's back up and running, and would be happy with a passenger ride at some time in the future.
I currently have a few plans coming together for the C63 which will result in around 637bhp and 560lbs torque, but it won't be ready until the summer, just collecting the bits at the moment. She still only has 18k on the clock and spends most of her life sat in the garage doing very little, my Hillman imp is now up and running, but I'm leaning towards looking into a Hyabusa conversion, 170bhp in the back should prove entertaining.

I don't think after a c63 a saff will excite you Jim
I will be going for driveability instead of horse power mate, so will keep it sub 400
The imp will be a total laugh I bet
I know aj, I'm nearly as bad as yourself haha

It's these modern transmissions that give the extra, but any modern stick shift you will give a run for its money

Here ya go James, managed to find G88*** old dyno print out, just after Carl Norris had rebuilt the engine and ported the head, just found a whole folder on my computer of pics of her.
The day I purchased her, she was just a year old, with 6k on the clock......
Modified Head by Carl Norris
Quaife LSD purchased new through Mike Rainbird
Pro Alloy Coolers, Radiator, Intercooler, Oil Cooler..... etc etc
The sad day I sold her............... Biggest Mistake of my Life !!! Not one car park dent from new, zero corrosion, in professional climate controlled storage at Carlines of Horsham for the 12 years I was working in the USA. Totally Mint, never taken out in the wet from the day I purchased her, did get caught out occasionally but probably only saw less than 10 days rain in her whole life.
428bhp landing ................
Stopping Power in place.......

Thanks for the info and pics jim
Well Jim the car is in the bodyshop, and it was decided to cut a bit of the sill out as it was bubbling. New sill welded in by the best in the business over here. We are going to paint the whole car as there was a few areas touched up before and the colour match wasn't the best.
