some updates with a slight change of plan......Engine build nearly underway just some issues with the liners, like with everything else on this car liners have to be custom made I thought I could get away with off the shelf liner but the supplier has discontinued the size I am after
Going to go compound charged but with a supercharger Eaton m45 supercharger off a late mini with Teflon coated blades.

Gtb2260 off a 3.0tdi audi but with a billet wheel plus supercharger going to be interesting may increase the size of the turbo to a GTB2566 to increase flow, compound charging enables you to run a bigger turbo which in a single configuration would hardly spool.

I assume you mean twin charged, compound charging is the use of a large turbo blowing into a small one
Good to see it's still going forward though, should be good fun!

No definitely not going to twin charge, twin charging adds a bit more complexities to the setup plus I won't get the drivability and pressure I am after, the supercharger going to be the small "turbo" for the pressure and the big low pressure turbo for the flow, most probably have to go with two intercoolers due to the heat generated by the sc....... well that's the plan

I wish I could use another turbo free power but no space on the bloody fiesta lol have to turn round the inlet manifold so the intake is on the gearbox side and design a different exhaust manifold

At long last big valve cylinder head and the block with larger liners are finally finished, head just needs porting now.

It's neither, the Mk3 six-speed is the MMT6 I believe.

The mk3 focus comes with the six speed B6, (IB6) and the mtx75 the MMT6 is on the Mondeo, the fiesta st180 also comes with the B6 but I have no idea how much torque this gearbox can handle, so will go with the tried and tested MTX75 from mk2 and mk3 focus which share the same engine.

trying to shoehorn the 2.0 into the fiesta then tuning an engine which is not very tuneable wasn't worth the trouble plus the Siemens ecu is too much like hard work to map.

this question was put to my fabricator station motorsport who is tasked with the project.

The positive displacement SC works just the way he wants it, don't want to increase boost pressure just the flow rate which is how a vnt turbo works spools up as soon as possible to max boost then opens the nozzles to maintain boost throughout the rev range. the vnt turbo I am going to use comes off the 3.0L Audi with a slightly bigger wheel without the SC the turbo wont spool to full boost until maybe 3000rpm when I currently only have 5000rpm to play with, so the main purpose of the SC is to give me boost at idle and help the big turbo to spool which in turn will compress the air given by the SC as well as its own and maintain good flow higher up the rev range a vnt turbo and SC is a good combo keeping them both in there compressor maps but receiving excellent flow at the inlet, in a compound system the big turbo is the flow and ultimately the max power irrespective of boost pressure.
so I may go bigger with the vnt turbo dependent on how this current setup behaves.

regards

Ah right. I know the Mk3 Focus ST comes with the MMT6 and people seem to be getting good figures from the current Fiesta ST without killing the 'boxes.

Default Information

Hi, absolutely love what your doing, have 1.4 tdci that I'm going to modify
Noticed that you have Bosch injectors from the focus but what ecu has your car got mines a Siemens and have been advised that if try what u have then it just won't work is the ecu different on the 1.6 to the 1.4 if I use Bosch they will not be compatible
I no it's a bit long but could u list what u have done so I could replicate in my own stile what you have managed to achieve because I'm at the start of what u have nearly finished if I have to get a 1.6 then I will
Everyone thinks I'm stupid by doing what I'm doing but I thought I was I only one that would pute so much into a fiesta tdci really appreciate your time will wait for your

Hi Gus

yes been a long time m8 the problem with your fiesta I am sure they can with the Siemens ecu which hasn't been cracked to the point of improving the power pass a remap, very limited on what you can actually do but I will look into what other improvements could be achieved.

thanks

Hi
My engine builder/fabricator has corrected me in regards to how compounds work, and why a positive displacement supercharger CAN'T blow into the turbo with all the issues which will occur creating a complete failure of the engine, the big low pressure turbo has to blow into the supercharger

Long time since an update, I can't believe the amount of companies letting us down or just taking ages over minor things.
Engine is in the final stages of the build pictures will follow shortly

following your build on Facebook very impressive some of the issues you encountered is one of the many reasons I didn't go twin turbo also the lack of room my front panel arrangement is under reconstruction, lost my aircon which I wasn't happy about but found a company who manufacture electric air-con compressors quite expensive for what they are. how is the rest of the car i.e. gearbox, is the engine basically standard what turbo you use for your low pressure side? mine is taking ages way too long for my liking, who are you going to get to map it? still on the edc16 ecu?

The car is running a kp35 for high pressure and a gt 1752 but running a 56mm Comp wheel as the low pressure turbo. Rest of the car is standard but looking to get the gearbox ratios changed due to redlining in 5th at the drop of a hat! Still have air-con . Still running edc16. Going to dervtech for mapping.
