What's the plans with it then? I personally would have invested in a roll of masking tape before throwing a can of red oxide at it. These are getting rare so try not too fook it up too much.

looking at the pre red oxide photos the rear arches look good and its rust free! clean car.
remember, the doors come off with pins and the windows push out, all leaving and easily maskable lip. fiesta mk1/2s are the easiest car ever to respray. assuming you have already prepared the car before applying red oxide, get it sanded and prepped then just run it down to a clean dry unit with a compressor and get some coats of paint on it.
get a thick layer down and you can cut it down until it looks good.
car has potential.

It will be having new glass & rubbers installed early next year hence not being to fussy with masking.

March will see new sill's & rear arch's.

Then it will be going red but not to sure what red to go for yet with Mk1 XR2 kit & Mk2 XR2 boot spoiler.

By the end of next year it will hopefully have a 1.6 cvh turbo in it.

Already have a 1/2 cage / coilover's / polybush kit.

Will be getting rear, front upper & lower strut brace's.

Dashboard is at my uncle's where it is being modded & then flocked.

I'm in the process of making up a full door / 1/4 card & rear boot carpet.

Don't worry, It won't be getting wrecked as the shell is still original apart from the 2 bodge repair's on the driver's side door & sill.

This pleases me, when I read "rat", I was preparing some abuse for you.

Looks very tidy!

Are you using it? Red Oxide is pourus so bare that in mind.

Was until I started the paint, now sit's on the drive

The boot is the only original panel I've binned as it was way to far gone to bother plating & welding up

But sourced a decent Mk2 tailgate & got the rear light's thrown in

I think it make's the rear end look better

n/s reverse light will be a reverse light

o/s reverse light will be the fog light

Original reverse light will be on a switch for extra light

The only thing I'm not sure on is the engine bay

Started doing it black then decided it looked poo

But I want it a different colour to the body

Also have a genuine set of 4 spoke ronal's from a SS Mk1 being powder coated, diamond cut & polished for show's & summer dayz

Thank-you very much

I want it mint & completely finished by the start of summer 2014

I'm going with a cvh turbo as it's an easy transplant but knowing me it might get zvh'd, zetec'd, motorbiked...

I'm very impulsive so until it's done who know's pmsl

All slating / advice / comment's etc welcomed

Sounds like it's going to be a good little project. As already said these cars are getting so hard to find in good condition.Mine is all original, never welded & un-restored (just had the underneath detailed to freshen it up).
As it's so original & un-touched i couldn't bring myself to modify it in anyway.Good luck & keep the pics comming.

The picy's will be posted everytime I work on it

Have a look on here as your a Mk1 Fez owner www.fiesta-mk1.co.uk

If it had of had not been messed about with inside, I would have restored it but the inside had bit's of various Mk1's in it & Mk4 front seat's

Hence why I'm doing what I'm doing to it inside

Prefer the Mk2 boot as it follow's the body line's round

Mk2 light's so I can have the n/s as a reverse light & o/s as the fog

The original reverse light is a on a switch for dark time's lol

My other project will be right up your street
