Default P100 Project RS100 Cosworth Pic Heavy - Updated 04.05.16

Hi all, fairly new to the forum. Ive bought a P100 a few weeks ago and have started work already.

Im planning to rebuild to YB cossie spec including interior, running gear and lump. Also will be putting on the 3 door cossie front end.

Here she is as i bought it

Already taken off the rusty old tub (aquired a new one) and had the chassis blasted.

Ive got a couple of plates to weld on over the weekend and i will be ready for a lick of paint to keep the rust away.

Next mission is to take off the diff and leaf springs to size up the rear beam. Was thinking a about welding on a coule of triangler boxs to extend the chassis but have been told it will look a bit pants because are be able to see the rear beam.

I know a coule of people on here have done it, can anyone post some pics for we with the way they have done it please?

Chris

Thanks for the comments all!

Just had an email come through, tomorrow i will be picking up 2 new front hadrian wings, 3 door cossie headlamps, bonnet, vents & grille for a cracking price from Ian @ Turbo Breakers, top bloke!

Just need a 3 door front bumper now, anyone want to donate to the RS100 project lol.... getting prices between Ł200 - Ł450 ouch! i have a lot of YB engine componants if you fancy a deal?

I came across this thread today in reference to the rear beam http://www.rsownersclub.com/rsocbb/s....php?p=2638746 he has cut into the chassis. Good idea i think because it will raise the beam just out of site but i think i will then need to use some sort coil overs which could be expensive.

Update for you all:

Didnt really get a lot done over the weekend, to much beer being honest! But on saturday i picked up a few more parts and come home with a bit more than i expected but then again you always do.

Well tonight i got the n/s front wing off and put the bonnet on as well as strip out the front lights and grille. It turns out i need a different scuttle which i didnt know and the hadrian panels are a shockingly sh*t fit so some work there or ill try and track down some genuine. Bonnet also hits on the heater blower surrond panel thingy!?!

While i was there i had a quick play about with the headlamps... they look easy enough, slam panel may need to be changed as the bonnet catch does'nt line up.

All in all not a bad couple of hours spent. Ill pull the otherside off tomorrow.

It will be easy enough, just need the measurements to 100%. I can see a lot of lift the tub on and off as well as setting the ride height.

Not a lot done last night really, popped the other wing off and test fitted the 3 door front end. O/S is pretty good although the N/S is going to take some p*ssing about. Tonights job will be to clean back the old welds etc on the inner wings & door shuts to except the new wings.

Looking sweet!

A Little update for those interested. Ive just done a deal on the following and will be collecting next weekend:

Black Raven leather chairs & door cards
Black 4x4 Dash, console and interior trim panels
Cossie Clocks
Set of Saph cossie front doors including electric mirrors and windows etc
PAS Rack, pipes, header tank etc
Set of Koni's & springs

and a few other bits and bots. Not looking forward to hooking up the electrics! Ill get my Dad round who is a spraky and let him sort it out for a beer or 5.

On another note, ive pulled apart my T5 box and was going to rebuild it myself. However i think its a little pass me plus i hate the thought of putting in the car to find out that ive dont something wrong and wreck it! Im in Southampton , does anyone know of anybody local that rebuilds and has access to the parts to sort it out for me? I had to cut the 5th gear to get it off, what a mission that was!

Chris

Ive been shopping again! Also took my gearbox to be reconditioned. Should have that back in a week or so.

Also not pictured I picked up 2 doors with all the electrics in and a 4x4 black dash.

Not really done a lot to the car this week apart fro paint the chassis although I have rebuilt my 205 bottom end, ive got a couple of valves that are mot quite seating properly so I need to strip the head before thats going back on. I think I'll crack on tomorrow now I have scuttle from a 3 door so I can get the shut lines right.

Been busy on the rocker and pulleys today. Just need to finish off blocking in the top of the rocker and lacquer it. I also picked up a set of 4 pots off of ebay as well as I couple of other bits.

As mentioned I painted the chassis, I painted it with marine grade 2k paint for maximum protection however I wasn't that happy with the brush finished so I decided to buzz it back ready for some primer so it can be given a coat of moonstone blue.

Okay, friday i pulled out the live axle (for sale) and started to line up the rear beam. Made the mistake of thinking the diff carrier would be central...... its about 30 - 40mm out! BUGGER! Anyway, the bit of angle iron holding the diff carrier is not ideal so im going to put another 90deg fold in it to sure it will carry the weight. I also cut off the front leaf spring mounts as they where in the way. Its going to be pretty fecking low! Also notice that the dampers are going to be way to long, mods to the bed or short coil overs... im thinking short coil overs! Will look a lot more tidy! Heres a few pics:

Thats not a bad idea! I'll do down the yard in a min and see where they would line up to. Would you know if the arms can be changed? Im guessing the beam is still the same. Thanks for that would of never thought of that one.

Don't forget if you had disc type arms you will need disc arms from an estate. Or the hubs will not fit a drum type arm.

Ghia 4x4

Or you could just mount some coilovers to the centre where the spring is on the standard arm. Kit car coilovers come in lots of different lengths
