i posted this last night but iv'e had no replies, have i done something wrong? users have viewed but no replies? cheers, please have a read and see if you can help me out, much appreciated.

Hi there, today i purchased an l reg fiesta wich started life as a 1.1 and has since been converted to an rs turbo with the rs turbo body kit and engine wich the bloke i brought it off said its out of a series 1 escort rs turbo and is mfi.


as far as i can see the engine is in the car, theres loadssss of stuff inside the car god only knows what it all is, loom, interior, clocks, the interior is stripped out ready for loom to go in, the loom is also out of an rs turbo escort series 1 again this is what the bloke says, the bloke started doing the conversion then lost his job and unit and it was sitting outside his house with no tax and seen as its been a childhood dream for me to own an rs turbo i thought why not !!!

he did get the loom in and have the engine running but he said because the loom was also out of the series 1 escort rs turbo there was physically too much wiring to fit into a fiesta so he took the loom out to start figuring out what bits he didnt need but the project stopped there for him due to his job loss etc.


it came to me today on the back of a transporter not running, ive just took his word for it and i just hope its a runnner, stupid of me i know but when i want something i dont stop to think these things over.


so basically id like to know where the hell do i start? can someone please help me, id ideally like someone to just come out to me and sort it all out for me because id really like this car to be on the road where it belongs and seen as ive wanted one of these for yearssss im passionate about getting it done one way or another.

Sounds like your in over your head mate but you got to start somewhere, first thing you need to do is take all your parts and see what you have/haven't got, also buying the right Haynes book will help you no end, there are plenty of people on here with a wealth of information, also you should try looking at oddkidcreations website the forum there has some good lads also willing to help. i'd find a loom/ecu from a fiesta turbo and swap it over to efi. you will also need a inlet from a fiesta turbo.

correct me if im wrong but i was under the impression that the mfi cars didnt have a crank sensor either so the block would need to be drilled and a fiesta turbo flywheel fitted?

if thats the case i would use an external trigger like the m/s one if i could

The guy you had this off doesn't really sound like he knows what he is taking about mate. If the engine is MFi, you only need the section of loom that runs the engine, so basically you leave the standard loom in that runs the lights, dash clock wipers etc and remove that part from the Escort loom. It's not just a case of cutting it out though, if you not good with car wiring don't attempt it.

I will as a mate I no as we did this swop over for a lad. Some years back and my mate sent the looms some were I'm Birmingham and they did all the swoping over so it came back as a plug and play . I will come back to you asap
