Windscreen is going in this afternoon, finally, so then i just need to wire up front inidicators and rear number plate lights, then, in theoru, it'll be ready for an mot, and a proper test drive, ha.

right, windscreen went in, finally..

also found my strut brace that i'd totally forgot about, haha

finally got round to fitting the front bib, needed a few sections cutting and filing, but it was a good fit in the end...

and once again my dog does his photo bombing routine, ha, but the new plates do look nice

fuck knows what he was thinking when he was sat there....haha

did have a slight issue though, after kicking its nuts in on the test drive i realised he'd blown oil all over his inner wing out of the oil breather, must fit the catch tank before next test drive, ha

I wouldn't like to work out how many hours I've put in, I've had 3 part time jobs on top of my normal 9-5 to pay for things, spent just over 12 months on the doors to pay for the engine, ha. But it'll be at a show in darlo this weekend and it'll be fully road worthy and finished by april/may, then i can get some miles racked up on it.....finally, ha. And the dogs actually called spanner, ha.

so its been a few years since I updated this particular thread and seeing as the cars come so far in that time figured id pop some new pics and a quick story. the end result of the resto from a few years ago is still looking awesome but as I mentioned a few times I wanted more power than the xflow could give.....
Name: untitled_zpsmtn9xwds.png

Size: 1.48 MB

so I decided on jap power.....

The SR20DET out of and S14A was my preferred choice, cheap, plentiful, easy power and a massive tuning market. however it was a little bit bigger than the xflow it was replacing......

so out with the old and in with the new. I had some ground rules though;
1. the car had to look the same when we were finished, no intercooler or big scoops etc hanging out the front.
2. no chopping up of the inner wings or slam panel etc. bigger transmission tunnel yes, but nothing else was to be cut.
3. it had to remain a fully functioning 4 door with access to rear seats for 4 adults.
4. it had to be fast as fuck when we were done. haha
so a bit of fabrication work was needed, mainly seem welding the engine bay, support gussets, custom chassis mounted engine mounts, custom gearbox mounts and a few other little bits n bobs......

(we didn't really hammer it in......we ended up dropping it from a great height, haha)

now my goal is for around 270-300bhp so I needed an exhaust to shift all that gas and ive always wanted a set of twins, so I did that too (they still require a tweak) but they work, look awesome and sound even better.

and of course all that power id need decent seats to keep my chubby little arse in place.....

and the end result is a bloody tight squeeze boys and girls! haha. still needs tidying up and refining but its on the road and my god does it shift.

power wise its running standard ECU till my stand alone gets here. boosting at around 11.5psi, once a remap, maybe bigger injectors and 14psi should see the figures I want, but for now 227.4bhp in a mk2 escort is more than lively enough, haha.

I was at the RSOC at croft last month having a stab at the 0-60, got 6.2 seconds which I was pleased with considering the nankang tires were 15 years old, hahaha. I now have fresh tires and once I get more power im aiming for a 0-60 in under 5 seconds.

I know its not a ford engine but I think its the perfect choice for me. i have more detailed pics but will take longer to upload so ill do that later on. Hope you like the results as much as me, haha

Not sure on the poundage on the back springs actually. They're single leafs but not sure of they're off and RS. I'm going to buy a pair of 146lb soon though. It scrubs when ita sliding. Haha

I'm looking at an rb26 or rb30 engine in my sierra I think. Imo this is a perfect combo! Mega work, and wicked car! 0-60 in 6 is a damn respectable time!

Cheers for the positive replies. I took me around 4 tears of planning and research to ensure I had every possible base covered and had the best option I could afford. I really only wanted to do this once hence the big exhaust that can handle much bigger power hikes in the future. Same for the stand alone. Rather than repeatedly buying new chips etc I just remap it when I put a new turbo etc on. Still have stuff to sort but it's just about there.
It's on classic fords stand at ford fair next month if anyone wants to see it up close.

I love that new exhaust! Not many cars can pull something like that off but this has done it to a tee. Where did you get all the piping for it from?

Ebay best. An exhaust company down south. Pretty cheap too. 304 stainless steel 1mtr lengths for £15, all elbows we're roughly £20 and they custom made the T piece that splits the boxes for £45. Oh and the back boxes we're custom for me too at only £60 a box. I'll figure out how to get videos loaded and you can have a listen as it's not loud till it gets angry.

I cant believe i've not seen this before , I love the car and engine choice, the install looks really neat . We have a couple of good things in common old fords with Nissan power and springer spaniels .Do you have any updates on the car or vids of it running?

I do have videos of it running actually. I'll see if I can get the YouTube links up. The Cars now off the road for the winter and I've discovered a few naughty things. The rear UJ on the property has been battered to bits so needs a new, bigger one making. And the anti tramp/axle locating bars have been torn off the chassis so need repairing to a higher standard than we initially predicted. The megasquirt v3 ecu is now here so thallium be getting plumbed in and remapped which I'm hoping should see the magic 270-280bhp I'm wanting. I'm also gonna be shortening the rear axle to help accommodate wider tires and rear discs. Other than that it's pretty much as it was. It's a fucking animal. Hahaha.

That's great mate , I like the vids . Have you taken it down the quarter yet . Could you tell me what rad and fan setup you have. Are you going to use an escort axle to narrow ?

Not been seen the 1/4 with it yet no. Once it's remapped and dialled in how I want it then I'll have a stab at the pod. As for the rad it's and alli rad off ebay for a Honda EG. £50 and slightly modified to match the engine. The fan is a 18inch electric one. The axle that's in there is an English with uprated shafts, well be taking around 1 inch out to accommodate the new tires and brake set up. Once that's all done in reckon I'll be on for a 0-60 of close to 5 Seconds.
