LS1 powered Capri
Picked the engine up from Jay at the weekend and set about removing the cossie lump from the car, after that gave a trial fit of the v8 in the bay. What do you think?

That's the only engine I've ever seen fill a Capri engine bay and it's still not a tight squeeze. My Dad used to have a 1.6 Capri and would get in the engine bay to work on it lol.
Should be a fantastic conversion, as above it absolutely suits the car.

Not sure yet mate, it should do though, believe it or not its exactly the same length as the t5 and the circumference where is the bellhousing meets the box is the same. Only the bell housing is larger and only by 2"...Although your mum said 2" can make all the difference

Ł4000, that's engine with ls2 cam n heads, mounts, clutch, gearbox, full exhaust system, engine loom, ecu, full car loom and all the other ecms on the car. If you compare it to the price of cut outs on eBay (5.5k+) its a bit of a bargain. Engine has 60k on it, I got it off jay on here who I've known for a while now. Always nice to know the chap you've bought it off.

Chevy in a Ford is wrong, but will go great.
I'm heping a mate put a LS2 in an old El Camino,
We are at the stage of wirring it up and gave up trying to fathom out the original loom
We have sent it to the states and it will come back with just the minimum wires needed for it to run on the standard ECU
Not a lot of money either
Let me know if you want their details.
Does the sum clear Ok, we have a spare one front bowl
Block hugger headers are available if thats a problem

Just a quick update with some photos, had a ball ache getting it to fit with the exhaust manifolds fitted and the brake servo in so had to take them out for now. Only had a couple of weekends to work on it as well.
First picture is the engine just mocked up with the gearbox fitted and resting roughly where I wanted it, this was last weekend
To try and fit the gearbox in we started by bashing the tunnel out but gave up in the end and decided to cut it out
Finally last night I got around the make up the engine mounts, following stevieturbos advice I have gone solid mounted and for once things worked out pretty much perfect first time. This is how it sits now bolted in place.
From the side shots you can see it does slant backwards slightly however I have the gearbox as high up as the back as possible without the prop doughnut starts catching on everything.

Hey guys been busy over the last few months, been lazy and taken very few pictures though! Engine is now in, and mounted along with gearbox, radiator is in place and exhaust manifolds and downpipes are sorted and clear the steering column/starter motor. O yeah I've also been slotting this under the back end...
Bit of a scruffy picture but you get the idea
