Hello all.

I'm new to the forum and I am currently saving to get a mk2 escort.

In the meantime ive been buying parts , just the usual stuff , lowering blocks etc but I'm now coming to the interior and I have in my mind what I want the interior to look like.

I'm looking at buying some rs recaro seats from a escort turbo , but does anyone know if they will fit the mk2 floor bolt pattern.

I'm looking at getting the interior completely reupholstered so it all matches.

Also , if I buy a four door , how easy is it to turn it into a two door.....weld the rear doors and filler?

Any help I would appreciate.

wouldnt bother changing it to a 2door, would ruin a 4 door escort and wouldnt look very good as youd have small doors up front so will look out of proportion, and then youll have to do custom doorcards etc on the inside.... itd be a pain in the arse and not worth doing
just save your money, be patient and a 2 door will turn up but 4doors can be made to look just as good.... sometimes better

Oh right cheers. You wouldn't happen to know anything about the seats would you. There is someone near to me selling a set of ford rs recaros and I'm tempted but don't want to be stuck with them if they don't fit the mk2

Each to their own pal but you might start getting a few negative comments on this thread. Search out sk8erpenguin and see what happened there. The mk2 escort is kind of worshipped on this site and regarded as a car that should be treated with maximum respect and kept as original as possible. Good luck with your plans I hope you do it justice

Trust me I'm not going council with this project.

The interior will be as follows.

The seats will be retrimmed in black with White centres. Black original door cards. Black carpet.

The car will be resprayed diamond White with black bumpers.

Dash top flocked in black.

Forest arches.

15 inch minilites in silver and black centres.

Quad cibies

Lowered 2 inch

If not fitted , 2.0 pinto.

That's the plan.

I've got most of stuff already.

I adore the mk2 , I wouldn't do anything which would destroy those lines.

Sounds like a good plan bud, 4 door prices have gone up now though as 2 doors are silly money at the mo.
If you get a 4 door dont weld up the back doors, it stands out like a sore thumb cos the doors are obviously smaller and looks absolute shite!

Yes , I think it's a bad idea now to be honest , I'll just have to bide my time for a two door.

I've just read a couple pages on this skater thingy.......erm that is NOT what i will be doing , what the hell is he thinking.

I have a budget of between Ł4 to Ł5k to get my car....so it should be quite nice when it's done.

I can't believe I scrapped two of these cars when I was a lot younger...bloody hell.

I am a fan of a slightly rusty MK11 four door, with some wide Mini lights, big power pinto or N/A YB with a Atlas and all the bits.
