Yes off the cam cover - tank - catch tank - atmosphere.

Also the AH one IS used by pro drive so cant be that bad can it!?

Sorry, Pro who??

I know of a Pace tank that due to a blockage in the breather built up enough pressure in the tank that it spilt in half (by the clamp) and filled/sprayed the footwell and cockpit up with rather hot oil.

Hence why I went for the tank that bolts together.

Bolted or clamped, why would you want either in the car with you?

I agree but if there's no space for it elsewhere you're kind of stuck.

The only way round it is to box it in with a firewall set up to give some extra form of safety.

The tanks arrived its big. Can i pull it on a trailer or fit it on the roof .
It looks very tight to fit in the boot if i keep the spare wheel, but ive not spent time on a solution yet. May need to change the tank breather system fittings as they are the problem. Maybe a space saver wheel who knows. I would prefer to cut it in half so it fits neatly but Mark was not keen on that .

is it a pace one rod? Could you not get a custom one made not quite as tall!? surely they could have done it to spec? Remember if you wanted a AH one i can normally swing a discount and sure they can turn one round quick if your stuck..

click me

heres there typical one just over 1'' shorter than yours...

If you have the tank above but want it shorter ( that's what I use to run in the boot) then you need a Marcos tank it holds the same amount of oil but is 3 to 4 inches shorter

Mark is way to busy to start on this for several weeks so i thought i would start on the boot layout. Went to Marks & measured up the boot envelope then drew it on Autocad. Modeled the parts & decided on a layout.
The spare wheel had to be moved & a boss will be welded on the boot floor to secure & ive purchased a wheel cover to keep it neat. A plate will cover half the spare wheel well to take the Nitrous bottle. The Oil tank & catch tank will fit in the well. The Nitrogen bottle does not have to be moved often so it will fit behind the bracing above the battery as shown & out of sight with the seat back up. The trim & carpet will be kept & the well either trimmed or painted black. Everything will be black same as underbonnet.

PS. Ive not spoken to Mark yet to see if this is OK.

Aren't you supposed to run the oil tank as close to the oil pump as possible with as shorter peice of feed pipe as possible?

At least thats what I was told by Neil (who used to be one of the directors of Pace)

But hey what do I know

Yep!! Thats as close as possible. Its way too big for underbonnet & bathing my feet in hot oil is out in my road car so means it aint going in the cabin . Lots of experts on this but we are taking advice from people who know & yes its OK in the boot.

Take the spare wheel out Rod, no point having it seeing as though most run's you will do in future will most likely have Mark in another car/van as support with tools and parts?

Nice to see you've continued the momentum and wanting to continue developing the car.

You are meant to have the tank as close to the engine as pos but if your piping is right then it won't hurt being in the boot , and I can assure you Neil p who was at pace does know his stuff and considering he highly recommended by the big company names speaks for it's self,

I agree with keeping the spare wheel; why wouldn't you? It's a road car so if there's room for it then keep it.

Who wants to wait for the AA to come out?!

Its part of the Nitrous 'push' system. It maintains Nitrous bottle pressure at 950psi at all times.

Although Mark is too busy to start on mine for a couple of weeks ive been trying to get things moving along.
Pete was too busy to supply me with a tank but its going down to him to have fixing lugs welded on & then painted Black. Have bought a catch tank also in Black. Will be picking up the metal plate later in the week to fix to boot floor to hold the Nitrous bottle & ive ordered a weld on lug & fixing bolt to hold the spare wheel in its new position a Cover will be bought on ebay later this week if i have the time. Still have a remote filter to order but will get Mark to Spec that.

could you not drop the nitrous bottle further down into the spare wheel well to free up some space?

or is it too long?

it may even fit under the bracing

Its way to big for that & it akso needs to be quickly remove (has pins not bolts) so must be away from bracing. The Nitrogen bottle can be pumped up in situ so will be out of sight behind the bracing.

Not done much in the last 10 days in fact bugger all . Bought some fittings today & on Wednesday/Thursday will pick up the tank from Pete after its been painted. The catch tank is finished as well so some progress. Not sure of Schedule from now on in but slow comes to mind. Need to know pipe lengths next fairly accurately because they are expensive at circa £40 metre. Catch 22 cos i need the engine back in to do that & im not sure when that will be .

We intend having a bash on the same day at some point but it wont be 2011 im sure. Ade has personal reasons why he cant progress his car at this time & ive simply lost the motivation.
However having not pestered Mark for 2 weeks im going across on Monday to measure the pipe lines so they can be purchased. Still not got my Tank yet but Pete was picking it up this morning so will collect tomorrow.
Mark told me this morning he has 2 more engines to complete before my Dry Sump gets started so still another 2 weeks i guess.
Fortunately im old enough not to worry about delays ive many other things to do with my life. It is still my intention to have a last bash at the Topspeed record & I would like to drive myself, but its not so important as it was say a year ago but still on the agenda at this point.

The oil tank & catch tank ready to go in car maybe on Monday. Plan to take pipe lengths & order up fittings & panel grommets etc.
Unfortunately next Wednesday im on Holiday for 10 days , but at least some progress.

hope Mark reads that.

Mark has a tuning business to run & lots of customers waiting. I dont get to customer hop at MAD im afraid hes way to busy. However you are correct im not a youngster & not worried how long this takes.
Also remember most of the preparation work & detail has always been done by myself & ive not the time nor is a priority for me to spend all my time on it.
It will get finished but not sure of the decade .
