I thought folk were meant to grow out of the whole "im scary and im emo and i cut myself because society doesnt understand me" shite before they turned 18.

depends on thier attitude. It doesnt take much questioning to work out the difference between a EMO and someone with genuine mental health conditions.
the irony is some of these dumbfuck EMO's end up causing themselves totally self inflicted medical conditions all to try and be cool and follow a trend.
It really is stupid really, eg self harm such as cutting can be very physically (chemicals and endorphins from injury) and psychologically addictive, so we see quite a few kids who admit it started as copying their mates to be cool and got worse and worse.
Also some say how constantly being negative about themselves and being around negative people lead them to ending up feeling depressed

Sure i suspect many EMO's might have borderline lower than average self esteem, as do most kids who need to follow a trend rather than forge thier own identity, but its pretty stupid to follow a trend that can lead you to end up with self inflicted mental health issues Usually kids joining a healthyish trend actually helps them build self esteem and confidence due to the shared identity and common interests
Even worse, I know of a couple of EMO's who due to thier self harm behaviour going on medical records fucked up thier career plans.
Someone should teach these kids its not just a silly game to follow a trend when it can cause you harm.
We get the same with many wannabe CHAVs. Quite a lot of kids copy the CHAV culture and copy gang culture to try and be cool or fit in to avoid bullying yet often, as us adults already know, it just leads them into causing themselves more trouble, often more bullying, damages thier self esteem further and in some cases leads to mental health issues if they dont grow out of it.

By the way we don't make ourselves out to be perfect, were just car enthusiasts who are passionate about cars and respect classics (like mk2 escorts) and don't want them to be ruined or abused (you have to feel passionate about something in life, these people on here decided to pick cars).
