Quick question for the PF paint people ?
I'm going to get my Sierra painted frozen white, my painter said he will do base coat and clear or just solid colour no problem.
He suggested going for solid colour using plenty of paint as it would be easier to deal with any small scratches that happen when the car is in use.
Will the shine be as deep with solid colour v base coat and clear ?
What are the pros and cons of the two choices ?
Thanks for any help.

a couple of painters said the very same thing to me mate,
They said just straight color inside and underneath but would base and clear the outside,
Yes straight color would be easier to repair and touch up, but it will soon look shit,
Me and Twins painted the underside of my fiesta in frozen white, and it never left my garage as it's nowhere near finished yet, after 6 months it already looked poor and has slightly stained from the dirt etc in the garage, as there was no lacquer to protect the paint,
Hence why Gaz has just done my car in base and clear lacquer everywhere, inside, underside and outside, ok so it may be slightly more costly to repair if it needs it but it will be easier to keep clean and won't stain like straight color, and if your gonna go with frozen white i think lacquer is a must

Just had mine painted, I have a thread on here. I had the same discussion with the painter, I'm no expert but we both agreed the best way was to base and clear coat, the reasons we went for that option was for the shine, protection and in a few years it will still look as good. The downside is minor swirl marks may show up more.
