Default What do i need? (zetec turbo build)

Hi... I have a s2 escort rst...

I ran a standard turbo'd zetec lump last time. I want to do it properly this time. So far, i have:

a 2 litre silvertop zetec

new forged rods and pistons

focus rs box with mounts and cables and speedo and starter ect with shafts to fit mk4 escort

omex 600

rover tomcat turbo inlet manifold

oil cooler, pace front mount, alloy rad ect from the last (budget) build.

Last time it was 220bhp. This time im aiming for between 350 and 400bhp. Please could the people who know what your on about (yourselves) tell me what else i should need to buy to achieve this power...

Head, turbo, ex manifold, injectors ect...

Thanks in advance!! Tom.

A standard Blacktop head will do 400 at a push.

My engine made 330bhp at 14psi so far, that's got forged pistons, steel rods, mildly ported head, standard cams, Jenvey inlet, tubular exhaust manifold, GT30.71, 750cc injectors, Omex 600. Aiming for 450bhp at 1.7 bar and NOT going dry sump.

My FRS mk1 makes 365 and its not dry sump. Ian Howell is one of the guys to speak to. Silver tops have a less reliable oil pump but billet gears can be bought. I remember him telling me he has fitted a couple of dry sumps and only at the customers request. You need my turbo and manifold Tom

Totally agree, if I was doing an engine build again I'd go Blacktop.

One Blacktop oil pump failure!

It's believed this was due to the lightweight pulley it was using at the time though.

They are different but the cranks are the same so you can use Silvetop pistons an rods in a Blacktop block and vice versa. you just can't mix and match.

I have a blacktop block and crank sitting around doing nothing, the block has been tapped for a HP oil feed to a turbo and a drain back to the sump has been threaded into the bit between the block and sump pan. I can throw in 90% of the parts to make it a full bottom end, its just missing one standard piston and rod.
make me an offer if your interested.

Wasn't revving to loads, around 7500 tops IIRC. We're sure it was down to the pulley. It now runs a standard pulley and has made 440bhp and proved reliable so far!

Billet gears don't seem to help; people have seen them fail too.
