What breathing protection did you use ?
I'm trying to save money by doing as much prep work at home before car goes for paint but do not want to poison myself
cheers

i used to be a panel beater and i'm currently spraying primer in my garage, i should know better but the only thing i wear is a paper type dust mask
youll be fine as a one off project, it's only if your in a booth full time when you need air supply tbh
car used to be red, ive used ti green for the repairs and then lessonal 540 (i think) as a nautraulizer for the top coat

as long as it's well ventilated and you dont spend too long spraying it's not that bad
the thing is that theres a technique to spraying and i was spraying for no longer than 4-5 mins at a time
youd be surprised how many bodyshops do this as general practice
but obviously your concerned so either get the air supply (not cheap) or pay the bodyshop to do it

make sure you do wear a suit/overalls as it can also be absorbed thru the skin but not at the same rate as the mouth/nose

I used to paint 2k a few years ago now and I had a cartridge type 3 m mask I used for primer and air fed for top coat .get some extraction in there because it will get real foggy very quickly and you really want to be concentrating on your primer work..NEiL

Thanks for all the advice guys
Beefy, thanks for the offer mate you're a top man.
I'm not anywhere near ready yet and can borrow a cartridge mask and goggles from work as I will only be doing a bit at a time.
I've also been told by my painter that it will cost close to £1000 in materials to do a decent job

It was £1000 approx in materials to completely paint the car inside, out and underneath. So primer, base coat and clear along with abrasives etc. (with me preparing the underside)
Labour costs will depend on how much of the work I can do
The guy is a perfectionist and does not want to use cheap materials.
It's been such a long time since I've had a car painted that I'm out of touch
Whats the going rate for a good re-spray if the car is ready stripped and all rust repairs done ??
Thanks
Mark
