Well i picked the car up friday, evening after getting back from a weeks surfing in devon
Its awesome ... or at least it was till i broke it
ive not really driven it much, i only got chance to put my foot down in 2nd and 3rd once on the way back, gave it a wash then did a quick lap of the lanes and home again as i didnt want to get it dirty for the show today, had a quick early morning blast on the way to pick up the girlfriend and her nephew thismorning and the speed is amazing, it just pulls and pulls, i keep hitting the rev limiter as it sounds so good and is still pulling like a train
then drove sensibly to the show and back as i had her 5yr old nephew in the back and slammed orion was scared of bumps or dust on the road
and drove home gently due to traffic,
thats where it went wrong pulled up outside a mates house and a big cloud of steam shot from the bonnet vents turns out the water pump gasket decided it no longer wanted to be a gasket and blew to pieces

Size: 50.8 KB

anyway, an hour later and ive fitted a new pump which i had lying round, with some loctite flange sealant instead of a gasket which i need to let cure for 24 hours then we should be back in business, got a few other bits and bobs to sort tomorrow too so i wouldnt have been driving it anyway

engine sounds good mate, shame about the pump though but easy to sort

engine is incredible Phil, i love it! BIG difference from t3 power
yep the pump is any easy one, luckily i had a new one lying about.
Just a few odds and ends now, bit of heat shielding, refit a few bits like strut brace etc. and im going to go for a standalone closed loop boost controller as my amal valve is dead, looking at the smaller turbosmart one that MSD sells or a GReddy profec b 2 (i think it was), i want something i can hide away somewhere, dont want to clutter up the dash too much.
How did Llandow go by the way? i was touch and go until the last minute, was just gonna come down to watch but the car wasnt ready and it didnt know wether i would have to go into work.

now you've said that i want turbo power but i'm not going that route.

llandow was awsome! a couple of brothers really pissed me off though, especially the one in the escort as he was just fucking dangerous!

after alex had jumped in with me to show me the better lines i was on fire, was holding off an st170 that had more power, better brakes (track pads where i had road pads), stiffer suspension, stripped out and track tyres where as mine had all the trim (including spare wheel), standard zetec suspension standard engine (bar cat back) and road tyres.

his bro in the escort was similarly modded to his focus but also had a 2l so i was all over him in the bends and then equal in the straights but he would not fucking let me pass the prick. litterally we were side by side down the pit straight but next corner was sharp 90 left and he should have indicated right and let off slightly but wouldn't fucking do it (having been told the rules in the briefing!) so i had to back off so he didn't crash into me.

anyway apart from that my mate in his stripped out, coiloverd, 1.7 puma powered mk5 fez couldn't get away either and i had some big slides when i decided not to brake at the cihcane

anyway, you coming to ford fair?

i'll be going out on track with trackdaydrivers in the morning, there may still be places left to book with them if you want.

Whats yours doing boost wise?

Well i've done a bit more on the car tonight, moved my temporary stack lambda gauge up to the heater vent, pain in the arse of a job because my oil temp gauge is a sealed capliary tube, so i had to drain the oil, and pull everything back up through the bulkhead.
Boost controller should be here tomorrow so i can tidy up all the wiring behind there.

Been to a local dyno day today, car made 507.9bhp and 435 lb/ft
Amazing figures for a TT38 really, all the details are in the thread in GD.

with the extra power i will need to upgrade the breather system, but just out of interest i wanted to see if anything was getting blown out of the vent on the exisiting system, so i went routing through the bin and found an empty milk bottle
couple of cable ties later and jobs a good'un

Just got to sort a bit of an oil leak which seems to be the sump gasket and source a cambelt cover, then drive it for a bit and then 6 degree beam towards the end of the year

As you haven't posted the 0-60 video, though I would.
Sounds awesome on boost. With a few practice starts I'm sure the times will come down nicely. Everyone round me didn't expect it to go so well lol

6.8 secs i think it was, i need to learn to drive
first off my handbreak slipped when i loaded up the box etc. so that will have started the timer, then it just spun through 1st, but not for long enough so when i changed gear, which took ages too, i had to wait for the revs to rise to come back on boost in 2nd.
will get a 6deg beam sorted then santapod i think

i did see your car phil but you where nowhere to be seen and ive lost your phone number somehow, no worries though. i was talking to trackday drivers yesterday too, might have to do the curborough day coming up.

not sure what i was doing in that pic looks like im pushing out a massive fart

get some pennies spent and upgrade your photobucket lol.

Cheers Ran

I'll text you my number mate.

Where did you see my car? Was it dumped by the fordtorque stand by any chance? I litterally got on stand at 10.05 and had to dump the car and run to the pits to find Paul, Alex and Steve from trackdaydrivers who had my track pack but they weren't there  so then ran to the briefing room to find them and fill all the forms out with just a few min spare. Fucking traffic getting in was ridiculous even from the m40 side which normally is clear and i drive straight in. This year i swiched the engine off on the A43 and we all got out for a chat and the bufties wiped the cars down

Next year I plan on several track sessions and you better be out too!! Your launches will improve mate, just need practice. You have only just got her setup on the new engine!

I'm going to book Tracula and November Warmer (both curborough) if you fancy coming. Who did you speak to by the way?

Finally found a cambelt cover its not in the best condition but it will do for now.
Just placed it on for now to see how it looks. Will spend a bit more time now tidying up the bay.
