Well today we went to a track day at Curborough sprint course curtesy of trackdaydrivers.com but it didn't last long for Graham cos he fucked his diff
Did you actually get a run mate?
So as you do I very kindly gave him a tow and then pissed off back to the track for more fun
To then discover 3 hours later that he hadn't moved so went back for a chat
500 bhp and a standard diff just don't work
See you at the next one mate

put some 888s on it, i promise you would be amazed at the difference, i changed from pirelli p zero to r888 and my 0 - 100 mph went from 10.5 seconds straight down to 7.2 seconds ! unbelievable grip they give for a rwd car.

Phil you bastard!
i managed the parade lap and then probably 10 meters from the start line
And that was on knackered kuhmo road tyres with a standard rear beam! Currently looking at diff options, if i can get something strong enough sorted i will buy a set of 888s to go with my new 6degree beam. Should see some nice improvements.
Had to wait 1hr for the aa patrol, who decided we needed a flat bed, so we had to wait another 2.5 hrs for a truck. To be fair, both blokes that came out were spot on, bcouldnt fault the service apart from the waiting times.
Will hopefully drag the beam out from underneath later and have a look inside the diff

Surprised your bumper stayed on getting it on that truck. Normally falls off if it's windy lol. About time it blew, it's sounded Fu!ked since you bought the car. Over 30mph and you can't talk to passengers lol
You'll get it sorted.

Nah the bumper is propely bolted on now, two lumps of ally, a few nuts and some m8 threaded bar, better than the standard ford mounts. Went on the truck easy, proper tilt and slide job.
I'm amazed the diff lasted so long too tbh, Its done a good 4.5k miles sounding like it should die at any minute, probably 1.5k with this engine. And it does get abused on the road every time its driven.
It just had to go at the start of a trackday costing us another Ł60
Ah well, at least my brother let us take his little 172 out, never known understeer like it! Fun little car though

well at least it can be changed and uprated along with the beam but that just means its only a matter of time before the box lets go as thats the next weekest link.
still hopefully it will be back at curborough next month 8)

not cheap if i do it properly and fit something that wont break again. i'm pretty sure i dont want to go down the quaife atb, gripper, uprated VC with shotpeened bits etc. routes as they use the standard CWP and that will be the next thing, so that leaves us with a 9inch at 3.5k or summat stupid 8.8 inch ranger/mustang diff which needs a load of fabrication etc. Jag diff same again, custom shafts etc. or this supra diff off john which i dont know a price on yet.
i might just shove a Ł50 MIG spec diff in it for now and sort something over winter.
and then there will be the gearbox.... anyone wanna buy a cossie lol

The Ł50 fix wont be ideal for winter lol
With all the money you put into the car atleast its a part that has yet to be changed. So atleast its a excuse to make the spec better

hopefully Phil,
Supra rear Diff and fully adjustable 6 degree beam is now fitted, just waiting on a set of CV boots from Matt Lewis and the shafts can be fitted, and an adapter for the prop. Hoping to have it back on the road next weekend to give it a bit of a test then i can get the geometry set up and new tyres fitted ready to try and break it at curborough again
this should be a pretty bombproof conversion, the diffs are taking 1200bhp or something daft on these crazy Japanese supras. Beams and diff conversions are available through 'A RS Licker' on here, or turbosystems
oh and i found some pics online from the warmup lap (the only lap ) at curborough last time out, not sure if i am actually allowed to post them with them being watermarked but im going to anyway

Looks good, is this kit going to be available to buy and do you know what sort of price range?
Whats the diff casing made of, cast iron or aluminium? Is there a big weight difference for the better or worst?
and finally do you know waht the final drive is of these?
thanks
