Pics of my 3dr cosworth restoration show car
Just a few photos of my 3dr sierra cosworth see what people think so far as it's going to be a long project mainly due to finding parts and the one that kill's everyone £$£$£$. Every nut, bolt and washer has bean replaced all the low yield bolts with polished stainless steel one's and all the high load bearing bolts have bean chromed. The diff has been rebuilt, new wheel bearings all new poly bushes avo coilovers the list of bits and bobs i have for her just goes on and on but i think the list for the bits i need or want seems to be much longer funny how it works like that isn't it ?. Has enyone noticed the incorrectly fitted windscreen i told the glazier he was fitting it wrong that the rubber does not go on the screen but he knows best so now the screens got to come out and on top of that he fitted the wrong one as mine was a tipped top screen and this one's not I will post more pics as i go on but it's going to be slow also if there's any cosworth buffs round the Okehampton Devon area give us a shout.
Just as i got her in 2002 3 bar map, dark greens usual stuff was runing about 300-330 bhp apart from that pretty standard.
Striping ready to go to the paint shop.
Ohhh crap that's why it wont start.
That's the last time i leave my car in mothercares car park anyone seen a 1 year old ridding around in a sporty buggy with recaro seats ? god there starting younger then ever.
That's it all striped now it's up to the paint shop to work their magic; well hopfully.
Hot on the spit in the paint shop after underbody blasting. Couple of rusty bits but nothing major.
Ahhhh is that what the americans mean by sunny side up.
One more coat of primer and then it's the colour can't wait.
Ok all the locks have gone the paint and clear coats on it's shining and it's coming home Happy days.
She's back home in my garage why did i choose the silver decles ? should have gone for the black one's should have gone to specsavers oh-well just have to change them.
Not much room in the single garage but can't complain some of the neighbours don't even have a garage. There's a few bits on the paint work i'm not happy with but the paint shop have promised to sort them out.
Now what goes in there.
All the underside is painted.
Here's some i prepared earlier.
The first few shiney bits under the bonet now i'm as excited as a clurgyman at a nudist beach for nuns.
Lot's of blue 'n bling. The blue powder coat in this pic is how it actually looks the next 3 look lighter because of the camera flash.
Spot anything missing ? yep the drop links can't get them no more and can't find a pair of good one's to clean up and fit.
For you observent one's the drive shaft bolts are indeed not chromed as i am waiting to get enough bits together for chroming then i will get a second set chromed and change them bolt for bolt.
Sorry about the quality of the pics but my camera is playing up and some of the pics are CCTV snap shots from the paint shop.

Last time I checked you could not get the 3dr droplinks but you can still get the bushes that go in them as they are the same as the longer saff ones, so it might be worth blasting an old 3dr set and then re bushing them. 3dr ones are the same as those fitted to the xr4i as well

I think this may be an option if i'm right (if they go in to the original link)
You can't get the 3dr version as stated in this advert
http://shop.motorsport-developments....inks-861-p.asp
But, if you could use these in the original links if shotted and coated job done - you even have a 5% discount quoting pfdiscount all in £11.49
