3dr restoration
hi there my name is pete from RStorations, i have been asked to post on behalf of taff with updates of the restoration .
we have been asked to fully strip the shell for inspection and then restore it, also fitting many new parts and cleaning restoring serviceable items.
i will leave it to taff to fill you in with spec etc
5 p's taff
first we need to check several items that needed looking at before the strip down ,propbearing gear box mount and a few other bit s and bobs
then it was out with the freezer bags and boxes [to label everything ]and start the strip down .
the car at santa pod at central day 2011
the car back in the stripdown bay stickers removed
body kit removed on the off side revealed a rusty sill [inner looks fine] and front wing
front end and bonnet removed
will keep updates comming enjoy

IMO the lights will be staying as thats the way i prefer it, i am not a purist and i use the car everyday when i am home.
As for the rest of the comments thank you very much, it is about time it got done as i want the car to last for as long as possible, glad i decided to leave it with Pete ( massive thanks mate, no get your ass back in the garage and dont come out till its done lol) and his guys at RStorations for taking on the task whilst i am in hotter, sandier climates thanks to the Quenn god bless her.
not much will change with the actual appearence of the car minus the stickers obviously, just a full freshen up, repaint and underneath cleaned with all the parts being blasted and painted, then anything that needs attention good ol Pete will let me know and replacements being sourced with the same cleaning and painting treatment to freshen everything up, engine wise it will be going to stage 3 with a new turbo when the old one blows up (dont like fixing things that aint broken maybe a possible rebuild before it goes maybe in order and possibly cheaper).
The car will be painted in the new FRS frosted white (purists i know but i dont care i never intend to sell it) as its new er and fresher colour, decisions will be made on the stickers when and if i ever put some more on when i see the finished item!!
with all that done it will never be a concourse car as i use it as my daily but just wanted it to get some TLC and glad the time was right as it has shown from the pics above.
please feel free to comment or throw some ideas my way and i may take some of them on, or if you have any bits you need to get rid of that may help the cause inbox me or put them on here, thanks.

i am in 2 minds about the stickers, i know they were not quite right anyway, it just looks so plain with nothing on it, oh well we will see how it goes,i am sure it will look super clean and shiny when its done so that maybe enough.
hope to have it all done before USC in Aug so we will see how it goes.

Nice one mate.
Another one preserved.
Not keen on lights but thats your preference, and can always be changed if needed as not a permanant mod, does fit in tho with the spoiler tip etc.
Look forward to seeing it completed

Coley i am just throwing the money at it, Pete is doing all the hard work, i am spending 7 months in afghan to fund the project, it will be stunning when its done i have seen his previous work and its top notch, will be shiny and new and then hopefully last me a long time.
Ran thanks mate it needed to be done as the pictures show, i did not think it was that bad to be honest, funny what body kit and some sealer can hide, glad i caught it early.

Ok i am finally back from Afghan and i have made a start today, first thing was to strip the engine and inspect the bits, as from pics above it was an oily mess but every thing seems to be ok, it will be getting sent off soon for correct spec check and a damn good cleaning, i have a slight problem as its been stripped and the head looks thin to start with and the valves have ever so slightly been hitting the pistons, maybe its a new head after all but will see how it goes with the head check, will need another skim no doubt or hopefully just a facing then the block decked, pistons machined, bore check, pressure test, lighten and balance it all and new rings and shells then put it all back together, hopefully should be all good???? concerned about valves though!!!!
