V6 powered 3dr Motorsport shell build
Hi guys, I've been big into 80's Fords for as long as I can remember and have had loads of them over the years. I have a few Fords at the moment but run an '86 Opel Manta coupe as my daily driver.
Anyway, this Sierra belonged to one of my best mates who tragically died in 2005. His family offered the car to me on the condition I put it together and keep it (don't sell it). To cut a long story short I'm getting married next year and Hayley, the wife to be, wants to use this as one of our wedding cars so that he can be a part of our big day so the time has come to get my finger out and get it done!
The car is an original motorsport 909 shell (non sunroof) which has never been built. It has been in Shetland for many years and changed hands several times but nobody has ever managed to get anywhere with it. I am trying to complete this project on a budget so I bought an XR4i to use as a donor car and will be using the 2.8 V6 engine and running gear in the meantime.
Here are a few pics of the car as it has been standing for the last 6 years...
And here's a couple of the donor beast...
There are loads of spares with the car ie 5 front bumpers, 3 rear bumpers, 4 bonnets, 3 bootlids, various doors etc and a full safety devices roll cage which I may sell to fund a genuine bodykit.
My plan is to paint her black, I did think about white but my Manta is white so can't have 2 white cars!
Any help/advice on this project will be much appreciated.
I'll get the car dug out of the shed shortly and get her up to my workshop to make a start so will keep the pics coming as I slowly make progress.
Cheers, Peter.
