HEEELP!! Do I restore this to its former glory or not??
Please don't dig at me for wanting to do this but it was my pride and joy.
a lot of you on here remember pics of my granada 24v when it was on the road but for the last year after the engine went bang it has sat on my drive after I started a new job and just haven't had the time to do anything with it.. now look at it!!,
I'm quite upset if I'm honest and undecided on what to do... do i spend the money on it, I.e it needs an engine, new brakes all round, new exhaust, mot and tax, or do I buy a dog rotten or accident damaged granada 24v and swap all running gear over, or do I give up on it.. I don't have the heart to get rid really..
Some of us on here don't like granada's but I've loved them right since being a kid and seeing them in the local ford showroom, new cars just don't appeal to me.. the shell on my car is spot on, barely any rust, the back arches are still fine, the cills have the odd small bit of surface rust now, and inner wings are mint. what do i do?
its gone from this...
TO THIS MESS!!
You lot can decide for me, cus i'm at a loss!

i am of the opinion that its not what othre people think but what you do that counts, i did a full resto on my MK5 rs2000 replacing most this except the roof now a lot of people think why bother with that car but i love it she is my pride and joy and the amount of fun and heart ache the build caused makes it all worth while, SO if you love the cra and dont care about lossing money if you come to sell it then go for it my man...

I do mate. I know its going to be a lot of pennies which ever way I do it, or should I just go out and look for a mint low miler and pay the money out in one go? I really don't know.

yeah but then we are talking serious money, if i'm going to go down that route I may as well strip the shell down to bare metal and start again. hate to say it but its not speed that interests me with them mate, never really been a fan of turbo cars, I like lazy v6's and V8's, ive even considered a V8 conversion on it.

that appears to be in really good nick and if all it needs is brakes, and an engine for the mot then do it. then depending how bad the bits of rust are you could ge either a mobile guy or take it to a body shop to get them bits sorted and you'll have your pride and joy back.
doesn't look like a hugely expensive project at all, probably FAR from it and you may have to fork out for brakes and bodywork on another one if you buy another one.
ge it sorted!

having a good base to begin with helps but its not always like that, have a good look at yours see if YOU think its worth doing and if not then look for somethings else but remember sometimes its better the devil you know.

Get it rebuilt mate ,it looks a good solid base to start with .Loved mine (a blue J Reg) and regretted getting rid of it. Was like driving a comfy armchair that could do double the speed limit.Sold it to a couple of lads from Moss Side and never signed the log book just gave them the log book(was about 10 years ago). Was used as a get away car a few weeks later and i had a visit from the plod

As you said, luckily not all like them, so rotten ones come up dirt cheap with usually a good lump in and a load of usuable spares you can put by
It doesn't look that bad to me in the pics, so if you like them that's a cheap option to sort all your problems out in one hit

Get your money spent fella. There was a cheap cossie 24valve on the bay last week.It will look ace on a set of big wheels and sit the car on its arse.
Cars are out hobbies some of us drink, smoke,go out for nights out and we spend our money that way. Most of us spend it on our cars.

If it's your pride and joy fix it up, if you buy another one it won't be the same car,
plus you know yours inside out, another one could have a lot more problems.
Just find a rotter with good running gear.

Make it good!Had a 24v hatch in white when I was 21.Got some stick for owning an "old man's" car but loved owning it.4 up with suitcases on the way back from East Midlands playing with a saxo(what else) and overtaking showing 130 is a fond memory.Kept pulling to a speedo 145.Got nicked and sold the wreck to topboss for £300.Wouldn't mind another.
