no, there similar but most of the outer panels are different.

a bit like the difference between a mk3 escort and a mk4 escort, or a mk1 escort and a mk2 escort.

well yes, but why would you when you could just find a car with the body style you want?

it may be worth it when the cars rare like converting a mk4 to a mk3 but its pointless for the newer models.

but in theory your right, you can

To change the car over to from mark 5 to mark 6 changes needed are rear end of the quarter panel where the back light sits in has to be changed to mark 6 you can buy this new. Then you need a mark six bootlid. Then the doors as the handles will be mark 5 mark 6 have a bubble handle. Then the front mark six bonnet to be fitted and headlights the slam panel is different to let the mark 6 lights fit up then you need the grille and bumper also mark 6 wing mirrors. And if you want a total mark 6 look the fuel filler would have to be changed

you dont need full rear quarter panels, its just the little infill plate that sits below the rear light between the bumper you need for them, theyre only cheap.

similair story with the front panel, theres just a little plate spot welded on which you can buy seperately, or just unpick them from a mk6 in the scrapper, plenty about. That supports the mk6 headlights.

but as cossiedevil has said about the filler cap being different, the mk6 hole is bigger, you would either need to cut out a section from a mk6 or buy a repair section for the mk6 filler (i know they do them for the mk5, but not sure about 6?) or the third option is to change the full o/s quarter panel for it.
