Hi everyone I've got a 2000/X mk6 Escort 75 TD Van thats in real good condition for its age, its a late spec with digital dash and only just covered 64K, GTI interior, bumper, Mondeo Zetec wheels etc etc.... I've just found out that come January 3rd 2012 the "Low Emission Zone" around London will also become active for vans! We put my reg into the TFL (Transport For London) site and my van is not compliant! I still have my previous Escort 75 Van (non Turbo) 96/N owned and modded since 6 months old and have always wanted to do a 4x4 or RWD Cossie conversion hense why I still have it! This van is compliant! Apart from ringing the X plate for the N plate the only option I can think of is to do an engine conversion? Do I go TDCI or pull the Oil Burner out and go Petrol? I can't afford or want the expense of a newer van, security locks, alarm etc as I already run a 2wd Cossie in the better months, Missus's daily Fiesta ST and we also need a bigger car for the weekend so a newer van is just not happening especially in the current climate were all in!!
I've been offered all the running gear/everything to convert from a Focus ST170 and would like to know any issues I may come across on this conversion if any one has done this to a Escort Van or similar?? I know I need a Petrol tank so gona buy a new one of these but am wondering do I run the standard Van Transmission or put the 6 speed in? if so will the drive shafts fit from the Focus or will they need modding?? I'm quite sure that a Mondeo 2.0 Zetec would bolt up to the Diesel Transmission bolt holes but would guess I need an Escort Zetec flywheel? this seems a cheaper option but I really like the thought of the ST170 gear in the van...... any help, info and ideas greatly appreciated...

hi m8 dont no any thing about the engine swap sorry but ive got the same prob as u, was thinking about buying a xr3i or rs2000 for the engine swap, where abouts in herts r u , im in cheshunt , so any info u get on doing the swap could u share with me also if u need a hand in doing this as i wouldnt mind helping as i have to do it my self , thinking putting the engine in should be simple enough its the wiring that will fry my brain as no good with wires,

going to need custom engine mounts fabricating, the st also has a hydraulic clutch if you go for the 6 speed, another problem with the 6 speed is you will also need custom shafts
