Frst restoration attempt (MASSIVE UPDATE)!!!!
Here Goes!!! Updates to the thread Thanks to RS George, Large update at the bottom, loads more to come!!!!!
Im currently in the process of restoring my FRST. Ive had the car now for nudging on 14 years. The car, as youll see in the pics didnt really need this much doing to it, no rust at all as far as i hoped...but..Im a bit anal, and as there were a few paint chips and the odd bit of flaking i thought sod it, its now or never.
The car has had 2 previous owners, the first for 6 months, who traded her in for a new 4x4 Saph, and the second who was an elderly gent who bought the car in part exchange for his fiesta xr2i, as a retirement present for himself and wife!!! Both the previous keepers were contacted before i purchased the car as peace of mind!!
Its currently got 73,000 miles with every mot, bill of sale and any correspondance from fords to the owners. Ive personally maintained the servicing of her with regular oil changes etc, as when i purchased her the servicing book was full of stamps up to the 90 odd thousand point, but the car was still showing the original 46,970 miles. Shes totally standard, apart from the odd set of wheels and exhausts being fitted over the years.
The car has never been raced, thrashed or abused in its life, and all the previous owners names and adresses have been kept, inc dealer plates, tax disk holder and key fobs!!
Hope you all enjoy my first attempt at my restoration, bear with me as il be updating the pics in the next few days or so!!!
Here she was last summer!!
And wearing her other boots!!!
Updates to follow.........

Ok Ok, im in the garage all today stripping the underside still!!!. Getting into the nooks and crannies to get to the underseal is proving a pain in the arse atm, but il get there!!! Ive only got a heat gun and scraper!!!
Brian...yes its on the spit as we speak, but i think theres a bit of a battle for the spit after ive used it mate, but pop over and av a look whenever ya want.
Not sure about the Camber on the wheels. It was def fitted with the correct lower arms from fords, but as i only drove it 280 miles last year or so, and im always changing the alloys for shows etc, SO it hasnt managed to wear out any of the 2 sets of tyres in 7 or 8 years!!!!
More pics to follow people, ive got over 180 so far....
UPDATES IN A BIT, MANY THANKS FOR THE KIND COMMENTS!!!

Right, started a few weeks back by firstly taking out the interior, bumpers etc to see what the floorpan is like. Found it to be 100% solid!!!
Put the rest of all the interior in various rooms of the house!!
And alot of gear is in the garden whilst i put it all away!!!

The reason i am taking the car apart is because im very anal.
Ive always wanted the car to be perfectly mint, in as many ways as possible. My pals always laugh at everytime a polish turns into half the engine bay taken out to clean it...a bit OCD!!!
Some of the paint had started to peel in a few minor places and the underneath was quite dirty as youll see in a few days, so i decided to bite the bullet and try to get the car as near to concourse as possible, without being a trailor queen!!
I bit the bullet and sent the engine away to a friend at Burton Performance for a check up, and its booked in for a full repaint, after ive totally stripped, the underneath, underseal removed, rust treated any scabs, re undershutzd, then painted mercury with laquer. I will then repaint the engine etc, powdercoat any undermetals, like rear beam and cradle etc, and get all the nuts bolts and washers zinc passivated!!!!
Thats the reason Thanks for the comments, updates to follow!!!

The next stage that i started to do was dismantle the front end bit by bit. I wont bore you with pics of me taking things off, like bumpers ets, but il post the main pics....
Ok the front end!!....
Started to take apart the wiper moters, rear bulkhead panels and heater box etc!!
As you can see there was 19years of shit in and aroung the heater box, which made me lose sleep and had to be attended to!!!
As you can see once cleaned it was mint under there!!
But still had to give it a once over with Dr Magic oven cleaner from the pound shop!!!
Next was the corroded and shitty windscreen wipers and covers!!
Labelled up some of the screws and washers etc and bits of the looms!!
Bitf rust on the top of the front vallance...
More updates to follow as im a bit further than waht these pics state....Enjoy!!

View down the front of engine, as i was taking various bits out.
No Turbo Oil in ere mate!!!!
Or here!!!!
Took a pic from the front inside the head and saw that all the cokoing was of a nice colour etc, but it doesnt matter now as ive sourced a new head to be used. The original Ford cam is really only good for 50K but mine has managed to stroll through to 73K..
Here ive taken off the "never before removed" alternator bracket, to clean out all that dirt and oils, you can see where ive just knocked the block paint back a bit!!
Right.......I always wanted to get rid of my Battery tray, as it was a bit crusty and bugged the hell out of me. I decided to keep the frame that attaches to the engine bay as it was ok, but drilled oud the spotwelds and ground the rest out, ready for a brand new ford item to be welded on..( If i can ever stop getting outbid on a welder on ebay!!!!! )
Hope you all like and im gna try to update a few more later tonight, but ive gotta watch Take me Out, i taped, so it might be tommorow!!!

Thanks for the comments lads, ive just finished watching Take Me Out...Peggy is Lush!!!
ANYWAYS....Here are some more pics so far.......
Right, with the car in the garage and the majority of the rest stripped off, i ordered my Rollover Jig. The guy who i spoke to assured me of his work, and did me a deal, and as he was in Herts, i could save on the Ł45-00 postage and pick up on my way back from Nottingham in a van!!!
Here are a few pics of the engine coming out...
With Mr Higgs, wearing his Janitors Mac, overlooking Operations!!!
Removed the sump for an inspection, and had a root round the bottom end.
All looked good. I then removed the pick up tube etc and put them together with the sump and oil cooler ready for a deep clean in a few days time!! The sump and pick up filter were remarkably clean with no signs of sludge or blockages at all!!!!
